*World building note: Male Omegas and Female Alphas both have what's considered traditional female and male sex organs and genitalia. A penis and vaginal opening are present, and they're both fully functioning. If there are any questions or concerns please let me know :)*
Allen was handsome when he focused.
His brows would furrow as his amber eyes stared at the chess board, as if it would tell him its secrets if he glared hard enough. His lips would form into a straight line, fingers tapping impatiently against his knee. He was getting better at chess, though it had only been a few days since they'd started playing together. Still, it took him no time to show improvement as he began mimicking Scott's own playing style.
It was a shame they'd have to stop for the next week, while he was in Guitia.
The trip was entirely unexpected, but Lockmere had denounced Othebia as an ally, though they had made no moves to officiate a declaration of war. Guitia had been quick to contact him, offering a beneficial relationship between their kingdoms provided that he pay them a visit to discuss negotiations together. This worked well for him, Scott hadn't dared hope that Guitia would be interested in an alliance. Not that he was doubting Othebia's ability to hold their own against Lockmere but having another kingdom on their side certainly wouldn't hurt.
He shook himself out of his thoughts as he slid his knight into place, effectively pinning Allen's King in check mate. The Alpha puffed out an annoyed breath, leaning back in his seat and crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm tired of losing to you."
"It's only been a few days," He chuckled, moving to grab the box the board belonged in, "You'll surely lose a lot more before you get anywhere close to winning against me."
"Maybe you should just hire a chess master to play with you instead." He sighed, "I don't think I'm getting anywhere."
"You're already improving," Scott assured him, sitting back down, "Did you have any questions about your task while I'm away?"
"Other than I'm unsure of why you're giving it to me." He said, though there's no true complaint in his voice, Allen seemed more curious than anything, "The Queen keeps after the palace usually, right?"
"Generally speaking, yes. Think of it as your first test, Mr. Perez. I want to see how capable you are, and if you damage my home, that is fixable."
"It can't be that hard." Allen puffed out, but the implication is there.
So, Scott finishes it for him, "Not if an Omega usually does it, right?"
Allen bristled, Scott can see it in the way that he tenses his jaw, his posture straightening ever so slightly, "That's not what I said."
He merely shrugged, deciding not to acknowledge the statement. Starting an argument between the two of them wouldn't remedy anything. They were supposed to be on the same team, after all. "If you don't have any questions, you are free to go about your day then. I'll see you and Robbie at dinner."

Scott doesn't sleep well that night. His bed is big and comfortable, but all he does is toss and turn between his plush sheets as he mulls over the turmoil in his mind. He'd never been outside of the Kingdom without his father before. He had grown up accompanying King John to other nations and such, but there was something starkly different about travelling as a Prince rather than the King. If things went south between him and Guitia, well, there was no one he could truly turn to to fix his mistakes. His Council and him had agreed that a small travelling party was for the best, so it would just be himself, James, Sam, and Colin traveling to Guitia tomorrow. The royal family had assured his safety, and he just had to trust they would honor that.
