a/n - hey! It's me, the author. Um, this book is going to be really casual. I probably won't update that much or that often, and the chapters (like this one) probably won't be super long. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy whatever ends up making it on here :) I also thought it would be worth mentioning that this is my first book, so it might be a little dodgy . Anyway, have a good night, day or anywhere in between and maybe I'll see you around.

_____________

Tommy shivered as the cool dusk wind brushed past his shoulders. He looked down the steep cliff and then back up at Phil with uncertainty. "So.. how do you do it?" he asked.

"It's not really something you can teach, Tommy." Phil replied. "You kinda just do it, y'know?"

Tommy released the breath he'd been holding. "That doesn't really help."

Phil chuckled. "I know."

"Well if you knew then maybe you should have said something a little more spec-" Tommy started, loudly. He was cut off by Phil's laugh. "I don't know how to explain it! Just... catch the wind."

The wind blew past again, this time stronger. Tommy took a deep breath. "I'm scared." he said in a quiet voice. "I know, Toms. It'll be alright."

Tommy felt two hands firmly plant themselves on his back and suddenly he was falling, spinning, wings flailing and heart racing in the air. The ground got closer and closer. He was terrified. He was going to die.

And then, the ground never came.

Almost like it disappeared.

Tommy opened his eyes and was met with soaring mountains, peach-coloured clouds and tiny trees. He looked around in awe and spotted Phil gliding next to him. Tommy laughed extatically and experimented with loops and tricks in the air. "I'm doing it, Dad!" he exclaimed. "I caught the wind!"
