Chapter 55

Adam

I was at the ice rink for practice. Tomorrow, we leave to play at a different college for a game. I was skating next to Tex. He still had a cut lip from Courtney hitting him when we had that huge fight on the ice. I can't see why Courtney hates him, he's a nice guy.

Anyway, we were all warming up while Coach was talking to the principal. Tex was complaining about how the girl he likes is dating another guy.

"Then, I was like 'Heather, will you go out with me?' and she says, 'sorry, I'm dating someone.' And then I got really mad and- Adam, are you listening?" Tex asked like a teenage girl going through a break up. I looked at him.

"Yeah, just thinking." I sighed sadly.

"About what?" Tex asked. I shrugged softly.

"I don't know, things?" Tex gave me a weird look. "What?"

"Something's going on, what is it?" He asked.

"Banks! Get over here!" Coach Ruck yelled. I looked at Tex.

"That's it." I said. Tex started to laugh. I skated over to Coach Ruck and Principal Stafford. I stopped right by them. "Yeah?"

"Adam, I'm sorry to tell you this, but you can not play hockey at this school any longer." Principal Stafford stated. My jaw dropped.

"What?! Why?!" I asked loudly.

"Banks, Mr. Stafford explained to me that he is taking yours and the freshman's scholarships away." Coach said. I shot them both a confused look.

"But why?!" I asked again.

"Because I can't afford to have you guys here in this school. Anyway, I got a new player. Matt! Matt come out!" Mr. Stafford said. A nice looking boy came out and stopped by Mr. Stafford's side. Mr. Stafford threw his arm over Matts shoulder. "Adam, this is your replacement, Matt Shift."
