"Ready for the game today team?!" I heard Charlie asked. We all cheered. I started to tie my skates on. It feels weird without Adam here for the hockey game. He would be here putting his arm around me, kissing me on the cheek. But I'm here sitting next to Fulton and Dwayne. I'm not complaining, but I do miss Adam. I got my chest pad on quickly, then my jersey.

"Where's Coach?" I asked. Charlie looked at me.

"I don't wanna know." Charlie snapped. Russ looked at me.

"He's out on the bench. Man, I wish he could act more like Coach B., and not himself. Coach B. would be in here pumping us up with excitement before the game." Russ whined. I nodded. I got up and grabbed my stick and my helmet.

"I'll be out on the bench if y'all need me." I stated.

"Alright." Dwayne said. I nodded and started to walk out. First college game, here we come. I was kind of nervous, to tell you the truth, but not so nervous. I finally got to the ice and skated to the bench. Coach was the only one out on the bench.

"Jane. Here, now." Coach demanded. I opened the mini door and walked in.

"Yes Coach?"

"I want you center ice, understand?" He asked. I nodded.

"Okay." Coach nodded.

"Good." He paused. "Answer this question. I put you in the varsity team because you have the skill of a professional hockey player, why didn't you accept the team?" I smiled and laughed a little.

"I'm not leavin' the Ducks behind." I replied. Coach nodded slightly.

"Alright. You are a good player. That's why I put you there, okay?" Coach asked. I nodded. He smiled. "Take a seat, we start the game in six minutes."
