Don't Believe The Things They Tell You

Lies we all use them, sometimes they are for a good reason. Like telling your kids that their pet dog went to live on a farm to shield them from the harsh reality of death. But most of the time that lie no matter how small it is or how much you think it won't hurt anyone, is enough to crush someone's entire world.

Meredith Pov

"Meredith, I am so sorry" Derek turned to me with anger and sorrow in his eyes, I don't know why he's saying it, he has nothing to apologize for these last three months have made me understand what it is to feel loved and to love someone and although neither of us have said it to each other, I can tell by the way he looks at me that this feeling (the feeling that has the power to turn dark and twisty Meredith into a Meredith that believes in movie type love and happily ever after) that he feels the same. And yet those eyes that usually bring me comfort are now bringing me fear as he utters those words.

And even though I don't exactly know why his eyes have anger in them, the way he turns to face this woman, this gorgeous, leggy, auburn haired woman, who is dressed to the nines makes me think that it has something to do with her.

As she spots us with a smirk on her mouth and her head held high, she approaches us and I suddenly feel like a defenseless child.

"Addison, what are you doing here?" so Derek defiantly knows her, that answers that question, and he clearly doesn't want her around. The other question is how they know each other.

"well, you'd know if you bothered to return anyone of my calls" so that's who was calling him, it's all starting to add up. However, it still doesn't tell me what is actually going on here. I edge away slightly my eyes fixed on the red-haired women as her and Derek confront each other.

Suddenly she turns to me with her hand out stretched to mine. "Hi, I'm Addison Shepherd." I hesitantly grab her hand in return not wanting to seem like a bitch, although by the way she is watching me it feels like she already thinks that about me.

And then it hits me, she said Shepherd "Shepherd?" I have to question it it may not be what I think she may just be a sister, he has four so there is a chance, but this is me we are talking about, Dark and twisty me who never has anything good happen to her in her life.

And then she utters the words that confirm that this is the worst. "And you must be the woman who has been screwing my husband" my hand drops from hers as I pull my bag on my shoulder I don't even listen as Derek calls my name it's like the world has gone blank and everything has faded. I don't look back I don't hesitate I just run to the doors; I have to get out of here before I break down. The man I love, the only ever person who has loved me (or so I thought) was married and has been lying this whole time.

"Meredith, wait!" I'm pulled out of my thoughts as I feel Derek's hand on my shoulder. I turn around to face him with tears in my eyes. I'm so angry I can't believe that I ever thought someone could love me, Of course they couldn't not even my mother or my father, the people who were meant to love me, the people who created my life on this earth don't. "what!?" okay maybe I yelled that a bit loud because now about 24 sets of eyes are fixed on me and the man that I love.

"Meredith, let me explain please" I could see the plea in his eyes but I still couldn't forget the fact that he was lying to me this entire time.

"Explain what?" shit I yelled again and if to make it any worse Bailey, Cristina, Webber and Addison are now all watching as well as the other bystanders. "That for the past three months, you've been married and never bothered to tell me?" I carry on talking, well yelling really, there's no pointing in stopping now might as well let everyone know what he has done.

Cristina grabs me by the arm and tries to remove me from the situation, but I can't leave I need to know I need to know why he thought stringing me along was acceptable to do.

"Mer, come on we should leave"

"No Cristina, I need to know I need answers"

It begins to rain above us but I don't even pay attention I'm so angry that it's like I am numb to any other feeling. My face is already soaked with tears so I don't even notice the rain dripping down my face.

"Mer you'll get sick, come on let's go" she drags me by the arm as I stare at Derek before following along with her. George runs across the parking lot to put an umbrella above my head.

"Mer, give me your keys" he puts his hand out to take the keys

"George I'm fine I can drive myself home"

"no, you can't now give me the keys" I sigh in defeat before handing him my keys looking back at Derek. To see Addison smirking placing a hand on his shoulder. He pushes her away and the last thing I hear before getting in the car is Bailey defending me.

"Shepherd you are a silly silly man, you better make this all better or I will make your job hell"

I smiled slightly at this, Bailey knows she has no power over Derek and that He's actually her boss, and whilst she claims to hate us, she would protect us with every fiber of her being.

"Get in the car Mer lets go home" George opens the door and I get in before shutting it and reluctantly putting on seat belt, it's taking so much strength to not get out of the car and go running to Derek telling him I love him, but I can't, he's married he's not mine to love.

So instead, I just lean my head against the window waiting to be able to hide myself in my room and never leave it again.
