Chapter 2: Recovery

  Tyler woke up in the hospital. He looked down at his legs and saw a cast on his right leg. He was shocked. He scratched his head trying to remember what happened last night, but he didn't remember anything. "Finally, you're awake" said a nurse. "What happened to me, how did I end up here" said Tyler. A doctor walks into the room. "Don't worry, you and your wife were in a car accident last night. A semi-truck hit your car" said the doctor.

  Tyler started to remember everything that happened to him last night. "I can't believe this" said Tyler. He paused. "Where's Cynthia!?" Said Tyler. "I was just about to tell you, when you guys got hit the car went tumbling. When it finally stopped the impact of the car hitting against the ground caused Cynthia's spine to break. She no longer has control of the lower half of her body. I am so sorry Mr. Kacey" said the doctor. Tyler was heart broken after hearing that his wife was paralyzed. He couldn't say anything, all he did was sit there in disbelief. "Would you like to see her?" Said the nurse.

Tyler slowly shook his head agreeing to the nurse. They finally get to Cynthia's room. "Mrs. Kacey has woke up but she went back to sleep. Let her get some rest and you can talk to her when she wakes up again." Tyler said nothing. The nurse stepped out of the room. Tyler put his hand in Cynthia's hand. "I am so sorry Cynthia. I should've stopped. I put us at risk and you payed the price" Tyler said to Cynthia. He sighed.

  Julia walked into the room where Tyler and Cynthia are. When Julia saw Tyler she ran towards him giving him the biggest hug. They both started sobbing. "Dad, I'm so glad you're okay" said Julia. "I love you so much Julia" said Tyler. " They already told me about mom. What are we going to do?" Said Julia. " I don't know.." said Tyler. Cynthia screamed.
