After three days...

Lydia's POV

It was unlike any other day here at Happy Harbor High, the sun is out, the weather is nice but its temperature is a little cool.

I glance down at the phone that mom has gifted me from the other night. So far I'm having trouble clicking which is which, and how to send and receive messages from my other contacts. Cassie has been a major help in everything I'm witnessing. I wish I had the chance to grow up normally like she did so that I can be free-spirited and courageous to venture into what's out here in the mortal world. One thing we both have in common is that we never grew up with a father figure by our side. Cassie once told me she has never met her dad, her mom doesn't speak that much of him.

School is a bit challenging, there are written-paper tests to analyze my knowledge on certain topics. It's a bit strange how the school system and socialization functions here; you must raise your hand in before speaking to an adult, you get disciplined academic consequences if you disobey the rules, and there are letters that represent your knowledge status. What I like about school is that I get to make more friends and connections in each of my classes. I also get to help exchanged and native-speaking students. So far, everyone has been nice to me at Happy Harbor High. Raul seems to be hanging out with Cassie and I oftentimes ... maybe it's because he likes her, although Cassie always gives a sour response to Raul...

I'm excited to try out a school "sport" with Cassie, she mentions that she has played softball since the "sixth grade". She gave me tips and lessons on the softball basics, it all sounds easy because the purpose to hit the ball with a bat and run to avoid making contact with the ball. I'm not so worried about tryouts that are coming up, Cassie reassures me that I have the "ideal" woman strength for a softball player.

The Young Justice team has been practicing harder and as for the missions, they're getting more challenging than it was before. Which significantly means more battle scars and bruises. I could tell that Kaldur's face was filled with determination that we must challenge ourselves mentally and physically from our previous mission.  Zatanna has recently lost her father, who sacrificed himself to become the next Doctor Fate. Once the helmet is on, that same individual wearing the helmet must be fully committed to its fate. Dick and I still hang out, we do share moments together when we're alone. Especially when our lips meet, my heart booms a thousand times each minute, it's impossible to control my poor aching heart ...

"Your friends are pretty cool, Lyds. Which high school do they go to, besides Megan and Conner?"

"I know that Artemis and Dick attend Gotham Academy, and Wally goes to Keystone High School in Central City. Zatanna, well, she's 'homeschooled' I guess."

Cassie and I walk up the stairs to enter the school's main entrance, where we see students gathered around in groups within the school lobby.

"I hope I get to see them again! Oh!!" Cassie gasps, "how about we can plan a hangout together? We can go to a diner or the arcade-"

"Lyds? Is that you?" A familiar voice says from behind, Cassie and I turn around to meet Raul's hazel gaze in behind us.

"You chopped off your hair, did Cassie made you do this?"

"Hey!!" Cassie's face scrunches up in anger, her ocean blue eyes filled with loathing as her smile pulled down into a scowl

"No, no, no. It was me, I wanted to try something different, and my hair was getting a little long too." I run my fingers through my wavy short hair to untangle the short mess. "Sorry," I nervously chuckle
