"Carson, you gotta go to school," Drew steps in front of her.
"I thought you quit?"
"No, I still work here, kiddo. And you need to get to class."
"But Stiles-"
"-Is asleep, and won't notice your absence for the next few hours. Come on, you have that meeting with Ms. Roberts and swim practice," he pulls her out of the chair.
"How'd you know about that?"
"I'm still your father, despite how much you wish I wasn't. Now go."
"You'll tell me if something happens right?" she pauses.
"Of course. Now go."

"Good afternoon Carson, how are you doing today?"
"Fine," she mumbles, staring at the clock.
Noticing her lack of attention, Selena sighs. "You seem... distracted. What's going on?"
"My friend, he's in the hospital. I'm just worried, is all," she fidgets with her rings.
"Would this friend be-" she looks at her file, "M- How do you say that- Stilinski?"
"He goes by Stiles. His real name is long and confusing."
"Well, is he in the hospital?"
"Yep. He's there and I'm here, and I just feel weird, you know? Like I'm in history class while he's in pain."
"This is your boyfriend, correct?"
"Not anymore. I broke up with him."
"May I ask why?"
"You ever met someone who you'd never think to be with? Like you are completely different?"
"Sure."
"He's good. He's kind of insensitive sometimes, but he's a good guy. And me? I'm a bitch. Complete and utter bitch. I'm mean. I was mean to him and he was my friend. He deserves someone better than that."
"And what do you think you deserve?"
"I don't deserve anyone. I was meant to live alone in a penthouse in New York with 3 dogs and Sprinkles."
"1 cat versus 3 dogs? That's not fair," she chuckles.
"How'd you know Sprinkles was a cat?"
"Lucky guess," she shrugs, hoping the teenager wouldn't notice she was lying.
