"jaemin! come here quick!" jaemin's father yelled across the house.

"coming right up!" his son answered from his bedroom.

"we're going to be late..."

just then, jaemin appeared, almost bumping into his father because he was looking at his phone.

"still on your phone..." jaemin's father rolled his eyes.

"yeah, we're playing would you rather with jeno and renjun." jaemin answered, not even looking up.

"come on. put your phone away for now. we need to go to the doctor's appointment."

jaemin had listened to his father's request, but let's be honest, knowing that renjun would rather jump in a pool full of ketchup than eating a pickle sounded funnier than just listening to his father's rambling.

"jaemin, i'll have to confiscate it if you continue..." jaemin's father replied, sitting in the car next to jaemin.

"no!" jaemin squeaked.

"put it away then."

"jaemin, let's go?" dr. park said, entering in the waiting room to find jaemin sitting next to his father.

jaemin stood up, walking behind the doctor as his father stayed in the waiting room, reading one of the dozens of stupid people magazines that were there since 2010.

jaemin sat down inside the doctor's office, facing dr. park.

"so, how has everything been?" the doctor asked, his eyes running over his documents.

"good, i guess..." jaemin replied.

"have you talked to the school nurse again?"

"i did. she was very caring with me." jaemin explained.

"yeah, she seemed like a very pleasant person to be around."

"i feel more comfortable around her now." jaemin smiled.

"that's good. this means there is some improvement. the little exercise that we did worked."

jaemin nodded before answering to his doctor next questions.

they talked for a dozen of minutes, trying to understand how thigs evolved and how to make them evolve even faster.

"jaemin, this is a very important question." dr. park said, making jaemin tense a bit. he didn't really know what to expect.

"yeah?"

"are you willing to talk?"

jaemin raised a brow, not quite understanding the question.

he had partially lost his voice 8 years ago.
