Nobody's POV
"𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙳𝚎𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚜 𝚈𝚘𝚞?"
"Tikki." Marinette groaned slamming her head repeatedly on the table.
Marinette had no idea what made her special. She was nothing without Ladybug. She had come to truth with that fact when she was fourteen.
Now she was seventeen and doing college applications. Damn- why did questions on her own character hit so hard?
The truth was she hated talking about herself. It made her feel vulnerable like she was opening herself up to the world.
But that was the thing.
Why was opening up to people such a bad thing though?
Marinette chewed her lip in between her teeth trying to answer the threatening question.
She glanced at the clock next to her. The illuminated red letters glowed the time, 20:30.
Time for her date with Chat. As she got up-she hesitated though. A feeling of nausea and anxiety consumed her.
Dropping back down in her chair and clutching to the arm rests she crossed her legs as hard as she could trying to get out of this feeling of fear. Her breath began to rise as she felt it trace and leave her into the atmosphere. She gasped in weakness as it returned to her.
It was more than just the question.
𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚍𝚎𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞?
She didn't know... Because she was living in two separate worlds...
In one she had it all, the guy, the self confidence, adored by everyone around her, and the ability to have unimaginable powers.
In the other she had a seething liar who was trying to ruin her life, school stress, crappy mental health, the weight of the world on her shoulders, her secret identity, and to never be who she truly was with anyone not even Chat.
Chat...
The masked man danced through her head. Her eyes glossed over as she thought about his azure ones. She thought of his messy bed head hair mixed with that blue hair dye he put in it.
The difference between the two was that Marinette knew he was being his full self with her. And only his true self. He was kind, understanding, always had a smile on his face, never yelled at her, always wanted her to be happy.
A twinge of guilt hacked through her bones. She wasn't being her true self with him at all.
What would happen when that boy found out that the girl behind the mask was nothing but an illusion. That she was a clumsy nobody.
She bit her lip even harder, wincing back in pain.
"AUGH!" A cry gurgled out of her throat. Her saliva rushed towards the front of her mouth to help her ailing lip. She could taste the blood that she had drawn from her lips from biting it too hard. The metallic taste pooled into her mouth as she thought about what was to come.
Would he leave her when he found out who she was? He would totally be disappointed in her.
Meanwhile, he was disappointed in her.
He had been waiting for her on a date that she would never come too.
Her fears would be her demise.
She sat alone crying on her bed as Luka sat alone at a rooftop sighing alone with a guitar. He was going to sing her song he made for her that night. But the only melody in this heart was confusion and shock.
Why didn't she come that night?
