Marinette's POV

Oh my god. I was ditching school!

I never expected me to do something so juvenile! Not like my parents would care that much anyways.  They barely noticed when I went to change into Ladybug so this should be a walk in the park!

We walked in and shivered at an adult scolding one of the teenagers who was manning one of the rides.

Oh right- Luka had taken me to a carnival!

It was called, "Eiffel Fest!" It came once a year and was usually at the beginning of the school year.  Everyone loved it.  All of my friends were planning on going after school but since Luka and I had ditched why not?

We bought our tickets and were humming around to take a look at the giant rides.

A guilt weighed me down though... Chat... I had begun to tear up a bit...

I can't believe I just left him like that... I was so worried that he wouldn't love me that I actually royally messed up.

But the question still swam through my head, Would he like me if I was clumsy or...

"Hey are you okay?" Luka's blue eyes gazed into mine.

I nodded slowly, "Y-yeah I just feel bad for-umm... Chat-ER Chat Noir or Serpónt whichever one you call him yourself- HHAHAHAH- I just feel bad..."

As I slowly looked up I saw Luka's eyes lit up as he gave me a grin.

"You have a really good heart, Marinette." He smiled down at me.

I giggled and nodded up at him as we stepped on the platform to ride on the Ferris wheel.

"You two are a cute couple." The lady at the front teased.

"Oh no! We-we're just friends!" Both of us exclaimed at the first time before letting out loud laughs at our unison speech.  Luka helped me into the cart, both of us still chuckling.

I tried to take a deep breath from my mouth from how much my stomach was hurting from laughing.  Our laughs quickly faded as we felt a rumbling beneath us and an explosion from behind us.

Luka's face went stone and I felt my skin grow cold.  So much for a calming fun ride at the carnival.

"Marinette, you stay there. I'm gonna scope this out." Luka said firmly as he placed me delicately in the cart and shut the door.

"WAIT!" I called out but my screams were muffled from the glass ferris wheel capsule.

More than that though, the ride had started.  My heart jumped as I felt the cart and my body jolt forward as I felt myself rise.

Tikki was in my bag and popped out.

"MARINETTE WHAT DO WE DO!"

I sighed pressing my face up against the glass.  The humidity of my breath fogging and clouding my vision.  I let out an annoyed cry.

I could see the akuma causing chaos but there was nothing I could do about it from up above. I couldn't just transform here in the open.  Especially from above.

I bit my lip as I tried to pick out Luka through the crowd.

I felt my heart rise.  I couldn't find him.  I urgently reached out for my phone and started spamming his number.

Nothing.  I felt my eyebrows furrow as I let out another helpless sigh.

Usually this wouldn't bother me so much.  I would get off the ride ASAP and once I got out I would go transform under a big piece of equipment so no one would see me.  But in this moment I just felt so helpless and vulnerable.

That was normal for Marinette though-ER well me.

It wasn't normal for Ladybug...

I felt my doubts surfacing again as I tried to gasp for air.  I couldn't though.

All of a sudden I felt a long gush of air flow through my hair.  Tikki made a tiny squeak before heading into my bag.

I closed my eyes trying not to get any dust in them.  That wasn't before I heard a voice.

"Let's get you out of here, Sweetheart."

I gasped at the voice to see Chat Serpónt, kneeling in front of me-one of his arms extended for me to grab onto.

His smile brightly stretched across his face.

I felt my cheeks heat up as he called me "sweetheart" he was my boyfriend after all.  Although he didn't know that.

I shook my head trying to get rid of the evident blush on my face.  He smirked before wrapping his hand around my waist and bringing me down the Ferris wheel with him.

Woah! Handsy! I hope he didn't do this with other civilians.  I felt my cheeks heat at anger at the thought.

Bringing my arms to his neck, I clutched further onto him as he carefully leaned us down with his baton.

I felt my breath get caught in the back of my throat as he brought his hand up to my head.  One hand still on the baton and my waist, he caressed my hair as we fell and made a soothing "shhh" noise to calm me down.

Once we landed on the ground he let go of me and watched me brush myself off.

He looked at me with a smirk- as if I had something to hide-which I did- I shifted uncomfortably hoping he wouldn't figure out that I was his girlfriend- or Ladybug for that matter.

"I heard someone was worried about me the other day." He teased me with a laugh.

I gasped looking up at him in his tall leather suit.  "Well uh..."

He smiled cupping my cheek again, "I'm glad someone cares. That's all..."

A new waveform emotions swept through my body and again were reflected on my cheeks.

I didn't know how to explain it but was it weird to say I didn't want cheeks right now?

I shook off my thoughts as a blush also appeared on his face.

"I-" he hesitated not knowing what to say, "I-I gotta go... stay safe..."

BOOM!

His head snapped back to the explosion and it was like he was never there.

I ran to the nearest cover spot before:

"TIKKI SPOTS ON!"
