Chapter 33: Savory (Yes, it's a flower)

The next morning, Mikasa woke to banging on her door. "What?" she called out, hearing Annie grunt in discontent.

"It's time to wake up," Armin told her politely.

"Get your lazy asses up or be late," Eren said.

"Get up," Mikasa told Annie, and despite being tired, Annie took it seriously and let her go. Mikasa stood up and quickly stripped off her pajamas to change into something for school. "You still need to shower, remember," Mikasa reminded her girlfriend while pulling a sweater over her head.

"Do I have to?" Annie complained.

"I mean, if you want to smell like sweat all day-" Mikasa began.

"I'll go, I'll go," Annie groaned while standing up, not missing her opportunity to kiss Mikasa's cheek while she was working on pulling her pajamas pants off.

"You need me to show you where everything is?" Mikasa asked.

"I'll figure it out," Annie shrugged.

"I'll leave you something on the bed, k?" Mikasa said, and she saw Annie give her a lazy thumbs up over her shoulder.

Once Mikasa had a nice pair of jeans on, she walked down the stairs to make a quick breakfast for her and Annie. She decided on buttered toast since it was easy to prepare and would at least make her feel full.

Annie arrived just as Mikasa was finished preparing the toast, and Mikasa mentally patted herself on the back for her good timing. She smiled at Annie while putting a plate of toast on the table for her.

"Thanks," Annie mumbled.

"Your hair's wet," Mikasa pointed out.

"No shit," Annie grumbled, and Mikasa laughed at her crankiness.

"I just put it up anyway," Annie shrugged.

"It looks good down," Mikasa told her honestly.

"Putting it up keeps it out of my face," Annie shrugged while taking a bite of the toast.

"I guess that's true," Mikasa shrugged.

The two rushed to finish their breakfast, and Mikasa brushed her hair and teeth before going back down the stairs to put her shoes on with Annie. She grabbed her backpack before nodding to her girlfriend.

"Ready?" Annie asked.

"Yep," Mikasa decided, and the two set off on a steady jog to Annie's since she needed her things for school.

They arrived quickly, and Annie ran up the stairs to put her hair up and brush her teeth before grabbing her backpack. "Look at us," Mikasa said cheerfully, "We'll be right on time for school."

"Yay," Annie said unenthusiastically.

The two jogged to the school, and they were slightly out of breath when they got there. "We made it," Mikasa said less enthusiastically than she hoped, "high-five,"

Annie lazily put her hand up, and the two high-fived before sitting at one of the benches in front of their school. "Ha, you left my clothes on," Mikasa laughed while pointing to what Annie was wearing.

"Oh well," Annie shrugged, "It's not like anyone will notice."

"Is Annie wearing Mikasa's clothes?" Mikasa heard Eren's voice approaching.
