It's been a few days since we celebrated Holi. Daniel and I quickly fell back into our routine. He's been more busy lately but that's because of the long break he took from office due to our honeymoon and Holi celebrations.
Today, Savannah came over to spend some time considering both of us were free. We spent the afternoon watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S and later had a light snack.
It was around 5 when Daniel walked in the living room.
"Hie." I said in a chirpy voice.
"What're you guys up to today?" He asked as he kept his briefcase away.
"Just passing time." Savannah replied.
"Okay, we don't have time for that." Daniel said.
"Why?" I questioned.
"I have a surprise. We need to leave in 20 minutes." He replied.
"Okay, I'll take your leave then." Savannah said.
"Kiara, get changed quickly. Wear something casual." He said and I nodded as I went upstairs, bidding Savannah a 'bye'.
I changed into some casual clothes. Daniel and I walked towards his car and he chose to drive today instead of taking the driver.
After around 15 minutes, Daniel applied the brakes to the car and got out. As I stepped out, Daniel came to my side. He led me to the place where we were heading and just before I could see what it is, he put both of his hands on my eyes from behind.
"What are you doing, Daniel?" I asked, surprised at his sudden moves.
"Trust me." He said and led both of us forward. He opened a door and I heard the bell, just above the door, chiming.
We walked a couple steps forward and Daniel took his hands off my eyes.
We were standing inside an empty- what I assume is a- bakery. It was extremely cozy and comfortable. It had a round chimney in the middle. There was a big counter in front of me, we were standing just inside the door. There was a big window on the left side with tables attached to it. On the right side were placed wooden couple tables and there were high chairs attached to the service table opposite to us.
"This places is enchanting!" I exclaimed in awe.
"Wait till you see the kitchen." He led me to the kitchen behind the counter.
How are we allowed here? Why aren't there any people in here? Who owns this place? Why did Daniel bring me here? How is everything already set here if this place is not working right now? Why did Daniel cover my eyes when he bought me here? How does Daniel know where is the kitchen?
So many questions swirled in my mind as I looked around the kitchen. It was spacious with 4 giant oven, 2 microwaves, a freezer, different coffee machines and a big fridge.
After we saw the kitchen, we walked outside.
"You liked it?" He questione.
"Are you kidding? It's my dream to have a bakery like this of my own, one day. I'm so jealous of the owner." I said with a huff and pouted.
"Well, that's not good." He said.
"I know, I know. It's wrong of me to envy the owner but I do." I said and shrugged my shoulders.
"No, I meant, it's not good to be jealous of your own husband." He said and I furrowed my eyes.
"You?" I questioned.
"You remember 5 months ago, when we met at a café in Delhi, just before our wedding preparations begun?" He asked.
"Yeah, what about it?"
"You said you'll work somewhere as a baker, earn money and then open your own bakery. I didn't like the idea of you working for someone else so I asked Mrs. Ryder to buy a cozy place downtown and got the interiors done by a friend of mine. It took a bit longer for the bakery to get ready than what we earlier expected but whatever, now it's all set up and ready to use." Daniel explained.
"So, this is for me?" I asked and he nodded.
"Daniel, this is too much. I can't accept this. The place must've cost you a lot." I said and Daniel rolled his eyes. He held me in his arms and bought me to his chest.
"Kia, you left your previous bakery and I know how much it means to you. I just wanna make you feel at home in this city."
"But I do feel at home. You have me in your arms, if this isn't home what is?" I said as I cupped his face. His lips broke in a wide smile and he kissed me.
"My sweet Kia," He said as he pulled away.
"Never forget, you left your parents, your family, your friends, your bakery and your country to be my wife, to be with me. Let me prove it to you that I'm worthy of you." He said.
I nodded and hugged him tightly as tears filled my eyes. "Thank you, Daniel. You have no idea how much this means to me. How much you mean to me. Thank you so much."
"You liked this place, right? Do you wanna change anything?" He asked as we broke our hug but still stayed in each other's arms.
"It's perfect, babe." I said with a wide smile.
"How about you cook me some delicious cupcakes to prove me how much you liked this place."
"Why not?" I said and both of us exited the bakery to get the ingredients I'll be needing to make the cupcakes.
