"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes." Xav dramatically said as I showed him the ring I purchased for Kia as a gift.

"Stop. It's a gift for Kiara. I'm going to give it to her at the party."

"At what time is the party tonight?" Xavier asked as he continued munching on his double chocolate pastry.

"At 8 pm." I replied as I took a glance at him before concentrating on my work again.

We are currently at Kia's Kreation, the bakery. I came up with the name last week when we opened it and Kia instantly fell in love with it. It's 6 pm right now and she's out with Savannah at the salon. She's going to get ready at Savannah's house and meet me directly at the venue where the party is held. I'm throwing her a party tonight to celebrate the opening of her bakery.

I and Xavier are at the bakery right now. Since Kia's out, I'm the authority here. She has already hired some help who're busy serving the few customers she has now. She has hired all female staff since she wants more women employment. It was such a noble thought and I was beyond impressed.

I and Xavier have occupied a table in the corner. I'm working on a presentation I have to present tomorrow while Xavier is here not helping at all.

He has already tried almost every item on the menu which contains chocolate as the main ingredient. Had he not been friends with me or Kia, the staff would've thrown him out already.

"Stop with the pastries. I'm surprised that you haven't had a single sugar rush yet." I said with a frown.

"One could never have too much chocolate." He replied with mouthful of pastry.

"That girl was right, you are handsome." I sarcastically said.

Two girls approached me and Xavier when we first got here. One tried hitting on me and one hit on Xav. I flashed my wedding ring and the one who was hitting me angrily walked away with a huff. I rolled my eyes and continued working on my presentation.

Xav on the other hand, flirted for a minute after which he confessed about having a girlfriend.

"Thanks." Xavier replied with a sarcastic smile.

"Sir, we're closing the shop, would you need anything else?" A waitress asked as she stood by our table.

"No thanks." I replied on both of us behalf. She nodded and walked away with my empty tea cup and Xavier's plate of pastry.

"I'm going to take off." Xavier said as and I nodded.

Before I could reply, my phone rang and Savannah's name flashed on the screen. I picked up her call and put my phone to my ear.

"Hey, sister." I replied with a small smile playing on my lips.

"Dan-Daniel, come to mom's apartment. Fast." She replied in a shocked voice.

"What happened, Sav? Why are you so worked up?" I questioned. I saved my presentation and got up from my seat. I switched off my laptop and kept it in my briefcase.

"You need to come here to see what happened. Just don't go to your house first. I think, we might need to cancel the party after all. Meet me at mom's house. Kiara, mom, Jack and I are waiting for you here." She replied in the same voice. She sounded tensed and I could sense from her voice that something was wrong.

Xavier gave me a confused look and mouthed to me, 'what's wrong?' I shrugged my shoulders as a response to him. I gave him an 'I-don't-know' look.

"Savannah says there is an emergency and I need to go to my mom's apartment. We're most probably going to have to cancel the party so can you please handle that for me." I said to him.

"I'm coming with you." He said and I nodded my head. He has always been there for me and he always will be. I am so thankful that he is my friend.

I picked up my briefcase and walked out of the bakery with Xavier following behind me. I unlocked my car door with my car keys and sat inside it. Xavier sat in the passenger seat and bought my car to life.

On the way to my mother's apartment, Xavier called a couple people and announced that we have cancelled tonight's party. He even apologised on my behalf. Meanwhile, I tried calling my wife and my mom but neither of them picked up my calls. Now we were getting even more tensed.

What is going on? Are any of them in any kind of danger? Are any of them hurt? Is there something very important we need to worry about? Are they all okay?

Such questions started arising in my brain and I started driving the car faster in order to reach there as soon as possible. With the traffic in Pennsylvania it took me good 20 minutes to reach my mother's apartment. I parked my car getting out in a hurry.

Xavier and I walked into the lift and press my mom's floor number. The lift opened directly into my mother's living room. We walked in to see all 4 of them sitting with different looks on their faces. Savannah and mom were passive-surprised while Kiara and Jack had worried looks on their faces.

"What happened?" I questioned looking at all of them.

"Daniel..." My mom's voice was interrupted by a manly one.

"Hello, son." I turned towards my left and got the shock of my life when I saw who was standing there.
