Normani's POV

I was amazed by the veiw of the kingdom. This was my first time being this close to the gates of the castle

I'm a little nervous after all, I'm about to meet the royal family. Everyone that has met them, which isn't much, says they are nice but can be very demanding

Walking up to the security post they stopped me and asked me a few questions and did their search before letting me in.

This morning it was the guard that escorted me here, unfortunately it wasn't all the way inside leaving me to walk the rest of the way, because apparently they were in charge of the first entry gate making me wonder how many gates there was before entering the kingdom

I did find out though, it was 3 and the maids have a little gate room so thats 4 for me

The gates opened and I was given access to roam the kingdom. I made my way over to the crowd of people that stood to listen to a woman that looked like she was in her early 40's

"I'm Ciara Jean but you can call me CC, I'm the chief of the helping staff, which means you all report to me at the beginning and the end of each day. If there are any problems you also report to me and I will take them to the King and Queen"she said

"At no given time at all are you allowed to be seen spending more than 5 minutes with the royal family unless it is requested by them. You serve them and leave. You will be paired and share a room, you are to be up by the latest 6:30 am" She finished before she started calling the pairs

I was paired with someone named Maya and we walked to our shared room together which was all the way across from the castle itself

In fact it was like an apartment

We both started unpacking and while we did we had small conversations

"So Normani, who'd you get assigned to? They requested that I stay with the young princess since I was her maid last year"

"The prince" I answered and she gasped

"No way! You got the prince. The closest I've ever been to him was when I serve Princess Trinity her meals and that's way at the end of the table" she ranted

"I guess I got lucky?" It didn't really matter who I got to serve as long as I'm getting my pay

"Oh my God he's so hot, like almost all the ladies here have a crush on him, too bad he's getting married to someone outside of the kingdom"

"I've never really met him, but I've heard of him" i said and shrugged

"Here's a tip, try not to gawk over him much when your working, he hates when people look at him too long"

Good thing I don't stare at people, my mama would have smacked me if she caught me doing it

I nodded and we finished unpacking
