[Chapter Nine: Child's Play]

"If you're just gonna stand there like a fucking mannequin, then throw yourself out of my room." Pabagsak kong binaba sa kama ang baril habang nakatingin sa taong pumasok sa kwarto ko.

He then walked slowly towards the wooden chair inside my room. He sat on it and faced me.

I frowned at his clothes. He's wearing black pajamas and a white sleeveless shirt. Surely, he's about to go to bed at this hour.

"What do you want? " I asked.

Umayos siya ng upo. "I just talked with your headmistress earlier about your mission in this place."

Tumaas ang kaliwang kilay ko. "She really didn't lie when she told me to look out if I see you here. You're smart to figure things out quickly."

He still didn't show any emotions, like he always does. "I just wanted to ask you," he slightly frowned. "What's your business with Salvia?" pag-iibang topic niya.

I cringed at his word. "Salvia? Are you really that rude to call the well-known Salvias like that?"

Kumunot ang noo niya. "No. Not the entire clan of Salvias. Obviously, it's the student." He gave me a judgemental look. "Stop being stupid."

I rolled my eyes. "What about it?" tanong ko.

Kung palalakihin ko ang mga pinagsasasabi niya sa'kin, baka mapunta lang sa gulo ang usapang ito.

"Why did they pick you?"

His question made my brows rise from both disbelief and annoyance. Parang may pang-iinsulto ang tanong niya.

"Anong gusto mong palabasin?" I still tried to compose myself. Choosing violence will never be a good answer to begin with.

"You look unworthy for this mission."

... But violence seems a great choice to someone like this boy.

Peke akong tumawa. "Don't even try to push my buttons because it will never work."

It's actually working.

Dumikwatro siya. "Well, I just found something about you recently." Medyo tumagilid ang ulo niya. "You're currently MIA from your organization as an intelligence officer—"

"Headmistress will take me back," I interrupted him.

"— and it was because two double agents betrayed you in a setup," pagtatapos niya sa sinasabi niya.

I crossed my arms. "It's none of your business, kid."

His brow arose. "Oh, yeah? "

Tumaas pa ang kilay ko. "Hell, yeah. You're nothing but a student. Wala kang karapatang kwestyunin ang misyon ko."

He chuckled. "Alright," huminto siya sa pagtawa at tumingin sa akin. "At least, I was never betrayed by anyone."

He's already getting on my nerves.

"If you're here just to annoy me, get the fuck out. Masyado pa akong pagod para intindihin ka."

He grinned. "I'm not here for that," sumeryoso ang itsyura niya. "spy."

"Still, get out," I ordered coldly.

Hindi siya kumibo. I was about to reach for my gun, but he immediately spoke.

"I'm aware that your job doesn't allow you to point your gun at an unarmed civilian. I'm guessing you know that as well, right? "

I stopped my hand midway. My jaw clenched as I took back my hand and faced him.
