Perched atop Appa's back, Y/N observed the scene before him with a sense of quiet amusement. Next to him, Katara leaned against his shoulder, her presence a comforting weight against him as they conversed in low tones. The hum of conversation between Sokka and Aang provided a backdrop to their own exchange, punctuated by occasional jests and playful banter.

Pulling a book from his bag, Y/N held it out to Katara with a gentle smile.

Y/N: Hey Katara, want to read this book with me?

Katara, leaning into his side, responded with a warm smile.

Katara: Sure, but how about you read it to me instead? I'd like that more.

With an exaggerated bow, Y/N accepted her request.

Y/N: Your wish is my command, oh noble Princess of the Southern Water Tribe.

Katara playfully swatted at him and laughed. Y/N loved her laugh.

Katara: [Laughing and looking at him playfully] Stop calling me that, jerk.

As Y/N began to read from the book, his voice a soothing cadence against the backdrop of the sky, Sokka's voice, addressed to Aang, pierced the air with a note of skepticism.

Sokka: You have no idea where we're going, do you?

Aang, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, offered a feeble defense.

Aang: Well... I know it's near water. [Smiles]

Sokka: [Crossing his arms and looking away] I guess we're getting close then.

Sokka's retort got a small chuckle out of Katara, who quickly stifled the sound with a hand over her mouth. Y/N looked at Sokka and Aang with an impassive face. Ever since they had left the Air Temple, he had been unable to bring himself to speak to Sokka much, and not at all with Aang. He still felt as though he was owed an apology, one that never came.

Meanwhile, Aang, undeterred by Sokka's skepticism, sought to impress Katara with an airbending trick.

Aang: [Quietly] Momo, marbles please.

Katara, however, remained fixated on Y/N's storytelling, her gaze fixed on him. Aang's trick went unnoticed by her, prompting a forced smile and a half-hearted response.

Katara: [Muttering, distracted] That's great, Aang.

Disappointed by Katara's lackluster reaction, Aang's expression fell, his enthusiasm dimming slightly.

Aang: [Disappointed] You didn't even look.

Katara: [Looks up and forces a smile] That's great!

Aang: [Hanging his head and looking away] But I'm not doing it now.

Sokka: [Playfully] Stop bugging her, airhead. You need to give girls space when they're with their crush.

Katara's cheeks flushed at Sokka's words, her gaze flashing with irritation.

Katara: He's not my crush, stop saying that!

Sokka: Woah Katara, did you eat something spicy? Because your cheeks were pretty red when I called him that.

Katara grabbed her brother's pants and threw them in his direction, her steps purposeful as she stomped toward him angrily.

Sokka: [Panicing] Katara, calm down, I was kidding! [Laughs nervously]

Katara: Fine, but when we land, you should start running.

As Sokka visibly relaxed, a sense of relief washing over him, Y/N continued reading to Katara, his voice a steady cadence against the backdrop of the sky. Aang, meanwhile, peered into the distance, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of land. Spotting something in the distance, he directed Appa toward it, guiding the sky bison toward a large, mountainous island looming on the horizon.
