Y/N: [Panting] Why... the fuck... is it so... damn hot!
Azula: Stop whining, you're unbearable.
Y/N: The only thing... that's unbearable... is this DAMN HEAT!
Azula rubbed her nose bridge, clearly somewhat annoyed. I didn't particularly care, I was too distracted by how miserable I was. It was muggy and humid and the sun was beating down on the two of us. Earlier that day, we had docked our ship at the nearby port of the town of Liyang. Azula and I had gathered some essentials and departed from the ship, making our way to a nearby circus, the one where Ty Lee worked.
Azula: You know, you don't make for the best traveling companion.
Y/N: Whatever. Where is this circus anyway?
Azula: It should be just over this hill.
We continued our trek up the path, finally reaching the top of the hill after a few minutes. Once we did, we could see a large, open area milling with people. As we walked, I listened to the lively music that seemed to come from the left. A vendor offered Azula some type of fruit, another offered me some of their handmade items. I politely declined and we continued our journey.
Littered throughout the area were tents of various sizes and colors, but the largest one was in the center of the area. It was massive, even from a distance, stretching high into the sky anchored by tall, wooden poles. Its canvas was a patchwork of bold red stripes and fancy patterns, with small, shiny crystals that seemed to catch the sunlight.
Y/N: Well, we may as well start with the big tent.
Azula: [Rolling eyes] A helpful suggestion instead of complaining? Who are you and what have you done to Y/N?
I gave a fake laugh before swiping my hand over my face, replacing my expression with a deadpan look. Azula laughed before beginning to walk towards the central tent. I followed her, quickly catching up to her and walking in stride.
Azula: Have you ever been to a circus before, Y/N?
Y/N: I can't say that I have, princess.
Azula: I'm surprised. I would have thought that after those years of... wandering... you would have seen more things.
Y/N: [Shrugging] Unfortunately circuses don't often come onto ships.
As we walked I observed the scenes around me. It seemed that there was going to be a performance today, as the grounds were filled with performers, animals, and fans. It was loud and bustling, yet Azula and I managed to cut our way through the crowds. After a few minutes, we arrived at our destination.
Azula: Well, that was quick. [Pointing] I've found our target.
My gaze followed her finger to see a young woman who was doing a handstand. She wore baggy, pink pants and a pink top made of silk that exposed her midsection. She had long, light brown hair, done up in a ponytail. We made our way up to her, Azula standing directly in front of her. I stood off to the side a bit, out of her line of sight.
Azula: Ty Lee, could that possibly be you?
'So that's Ty Li," I thought. It had been over three years since I had last seen her. She seemed just as energetic and bubbly as I remembered.
Ty Lee: [Smiling] Azula!
Ty Lee flipped from her handstand and spun around in a graceful twirl before bowing to Azula. It was one of the more athletic things I had seen, and I was very impressed. She then ran forward and hugged Azula.
Ty Lee: It is so good to see you!
Azula: Please don't let us interrupt your... [raises an eyebrow] whatever it is you were doing.
