Part 20
Marinette's POV
I was so happy when he pulled me in. All I've wanted for these past couple of days was for him to be by my side. I could never tell why, but his presence always put me at ease.
His lips were soft as usual and he smelled like a perfect, fresh, unusual combination of citrus and cinnamon . I wanted to hold him forever... but now we had to focus on getting out of here.
"Adrien," I said, pulling away. "We need to escape."
"Okay... are you sure you aren't hurt M'lady?" He asked.
"Yeah I am fine," I replied.
I wasn't fine at all. My abdomen man hurt so much. It was a pain that I could never even explain to a person. The inside of my body felt like it was constantly being torn apart little by little the more that I moved. The stitches may bust open at any second. But now wasn't the time at all for that. My pain was excruciating but I moved on.
"There's a window down the corridor and to the right of this bathroom," I said before walking out.
"Okay. And what then?"
"I will transform and carry you to safety after we jump out the window," I said.knowing how painful it would be.
"Oh no. There's no way I'm letting you hurt yourself." He started. "Take a look at these bad boys."
Adrien pointed to his ears and these were black studs in them. He must have gotten them pierced himself to talk to Tikki.
"Have you even used the yo-yo before? You could slam us into a wall, you know?" I asked.
"I gotchu Bugaboo," He said as he winked at me.
"We'll see about that..." I replied. I was scared but also grateful I wouldn't have to carry him.
I gave him back the miraculous and he placed them into his ears. I slowly opened the bathroom door and peeked around the corner. We made a beeline for the window and before I knew it I was in his arms. He said "Tikki spots on" and now we were flying. It was a sense of extreme comfort and extreme fear at the same time.
"The tree!" I said.
Adrien latched the yo-yo up onto a higher building just before we were about to hit the tree.
"Close call bugaboo!" he said laughing.
"Um. I was already almost impaled with a bullet, I don't want to be impaled with a tree twig thank you very much."
"Of course, of course, don't mind me.I'm gettin pretty good at this aren't I?" he asked and looked down at me.
Just as those words came out of his mouth, we were both flat stuck to a billboard sign. Ow. Adrien picked me up and took me to the ground.
"Sorry about... that," Adrien started. "But at least it was a picture of me."
I looked up and saw his face mounted on the sign with him on it. The Agreste family company.
"Ha ha ha," I said right before he picked me up in wedding style. "Wait, what are you doing? I am confused."
"We are going to go face my father. But for now you need to rest."
He pulled me in close as we headed towards his home. We needed the miraculous cat back in our clutches. This could get ugly, but it was almost time to finally kick this bastard's ass.
...
Marinette's POV
As we walked up to the front doors of the Agreste mansion, I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach. It rang throughout my whole body.
"Adrien," I started. "You need to give me the miraculous."
"Are you sure that you will be okay?"
"Yes, it may hurt a bit, but I know the miraculous more than you do.I know it's maneuvers and can see the lucky charm more clearly."
We stood in front of the doors that lead to Gabriel's office. We looked into each other's eyes before knocking slowly.
"Who is it?" A loud and deep voice asked.
"Father, it's me," Adrien started. There was a long pause before a reply.
"Come in."
We slowly moved the door handle and I went in front of Adrien to protect him from any possible danger that his father. May throw his way. But I saw something I never expected.
On the floor in the moonlight Gabriel sat with a blonde haired woman in his arms. Her face was emotionless just like his. But you could tell that those cold hearted eyes were filled with sorrow. I started to feel bad for him. He looked up.
"Adrien, I thought you would be alone," Gabriel said, still holding the woman in his arms.
I looked to Adrien and his eyes were teared up. It killed me to see his sunshine disappear. He's my light and I will do anything so he never dims.
Adrien's POV
She was in his arms. At peace. Her hair was golden just like mine. I tried to hold back my tears. Be a man... you can do it. Just hold your emotions back. You can't let your father know that he is getting to you. You can't let him win.
I felt her hand on my shoulder. My tense shoulders were at ease and my tears rolled down my cheeks. But that was the last of my tears for the time being. I had all I needed with me. The past is in the past and if someone wants to ruin my present to regain something they lost in the past, there is no way I will ever let that happen.
"Father. Do not try to manipulate me like this. I won't have it," I said as I took steps closer to him and mom.
"We both know what you really want. You want what I want Adrien. You always have," Gabriel said sternly.
I leaned down and touched my dear mother's face. She was so beautiful. Even in her cold body, you could tell the warmth she once brought. But it's time to let things go.
"My mother cannot be revived," and looked him straight in the eye. "It's not right. It defies the laws of nature. Don't you understand?"
"Adrien, that girl has brainwashed you. You love your mom right? She wants to be back with you and I know you want her back too."
"No. You have brainwashed me. I know mom wants us all to move on," I stood up and looked him dead in the eyes. "It's not my fault that you want to drag me into your mistakes that you cannot fix. When will you learn?"
I flicked my hand behind my back as a signal for Marintte. Suddenly my father was wrapped in her yo-yo and I was tackling the man to the ground. He had the ring on his right hand and I tried to take it from him but his fist was clenched too hard. Time moved so slow, yet so fast in these moments. My heart practically stopped when I heard him utter these words.
"Plagg, claws out."
