Title from I Don't Love You by My Chemical Romance
I know Reading Festival is actually in August not September (I'm from Reading) but I wanted to add in that performance because they headlined and Brian May was there and I fangirled so much. If you were actually at the fest I envy you! I had to watch it on BBC Three. Anywho enough of me moaning about not being able to see one of my favourite bands when they were playing like 10 minutes away from me -.-
This chapter is dedicated to Silwe for getting me motivated to start writing again, so a huge thank you them otherwise you might not have been reading this.
Oh and you should all listen to Fearless Vampire Killers because they are beyond amazing.
Chapter 8-So Fix Your eyes And Get Up, Better Get Up While You Can
7pm that evening and I was sitting backstage with Gerard before they went on, their support act was warming up the crowd. I was psyched to meet the support act, Fearless Vampire Killers, I had been a fan of theirs for a little while. Imagine if Panic! At The Disco Vices and Virtues era had a baby with Revenge era My Chemical Romance, add in some British charm and bam! It is Fearless Vampire Killers. I was obsessed.
Fearless Vampire Killers finished their set with their most well known song 'Bow Ties On Dead Guys' and an explosive round of applause from the Killjoys gathered to see the main act. Gerard gave my shoulder a slight squeeze as he stood up and walked towards the stage, the noise that erupted when he walked out was phenomenal. The others quickly followed, Frank being the most energetic of them all. Mikey was last on stage as he stopped for a minute to talk to one of the singers from Fearless Vampire Killers before smiling at me and calmly walking on stage. Kier Kemp, Laurence Beveridge, Luke Illingworth, Drew Woolnough and Cyrus Barrone placed their instruments in their dressing room before coming to sit on the floor with me in the main hallway. I smiled at them trying to hide the fact that I was screaming on the inside. I had Drew sitting on one side, Barrone on the other and Luke, Kier and Laurence sitting opposite.
"You guys were amazing!" I finally managed to say, Drew laughed.
"Thanks, that's the biggest crowd we've played to on the whole tour so far. God knows what tomorrow is going to be like," Kier said to me pushing his dyed red fringe away from his eyes.
"I'm sure the crowd will love you, especially if you play Bow Ties On Dead Guys again. They'll really love that," I told them grinning like the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland. Drew laughed again.
"I take it you're a fan then?" Drew asked me laughing, I nodded and made the little bit sign with my fingers. This time Barrone joined in laughing, I didn't care that they were laughing at me.
"Okay, maybe more than a little , but can you blame me? You guys are one of the best British bands around and you actually interact with your fans, which helps a lot. I can't wait until the five of you play things like Download and Reading Fest, that'll just be amazing. I'd love to watch you guys performing at a festival," I said pushing my glasses back up as they kept sliding down my nose. Barrone noticed this and gave me a small frown.
"Those don't fit you properly. I think I have some contacts in the dressing room if you want them?" Barrone asked me getting to his feet then extending his hand to help me up. I nodded.
We walked into the Fearless Vampire Killers dressing room and Barrone went to his bag, trying to find some unused contacts. I just awkwardly stood by the door.
"Ummmm... So do I call you Barrone? Cyrus? Shane? Or what?" I asked thinking of something to say, Barrone just laughed.
"You can call me Shane, all the guys do when we're not performing or in interviews. It's easier," He smiled at me before going back to his bag. "Gotcha!!" he exclaimed pulling out some contact lenses. "Have you ever put contacts in before?" Shane asked me, I shook my head. "Do you want me to do them for you?" I nodded again. "Okay, sit on that chair and lean your head back," I did as he told me. Shane washed his hands in the porcelain sink and dried them on a nearby towel. He took my glasses off and put one of the lenses on his right index finger using his left hand and right middle finger to keep my eyelid open. "Look up," I did as he told me to. Then Shane gently placed the contact on my eye and moved it around slightly. "Now close your eyes and open them again," Which I did, I could actually see out of my right eye without glasses. Wow. Shane then did the same with the other lense in my other eye. Once I could see properly I pulled Shane into a warm hug shocking him slightly.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed. "Those glasses were really starting to annoy me but they were all Mikey had and mine got broken," I told him a little to hyper, causing him to burst out laughing again making me blush slightly. "Do you have any eyeliner I can borrow, I think I left mine back in the tour bus," Asking Shane with an innocent smile.
"Sure, I'm pretty sure Laurence left some on the side, you can use that," I smiled in thanks before grabbing the eyeliner pencil and putting it on.
After that we walked back into the hallway and joined the rest of Fearless Vampire Killers in what ever conversation they were having. We talking about everything from music to vampires to food all before Gerard, Mikey, Frank, Ray and Pedicone came off stage for a short break. Mikey came over and gave me a warm embrace with his signature bass hanging behind him. We pulled away from the hug as Gerard gave Mikey a bottle of water. Gerard's bright red hair dye had run all down his arms and neck, it looked like he'd been bleeding. I giggled slightly at the sight and Gerard flicked his hair in a sassy diva way in response causing some specks of red hair dye to hit me. I stuck my middle finger up at him and he just poked his tongue out at me.
"How's it going, Elena?" Frank asked me coming to stand with us, he had a towel around his neck to try to soak up some of the sweat. I smiled at him.
"Pretty good, Shane helped me to put some contacts in," I replied and Mikey shot Shane a grateful smile.
"We'll go to the mall and get you some contacts and clothes tomorrow. I'm sure Gerard would love to come," Mikey told me and Gerard stuck his tongue out again, for a 34 year old he can really act like a little kid when he wants to. Mikey's look became serious. "We have to go back on now so you be good," I rolled my eyes. "Honestly Elena, I don't want anything to happen to you so promise me you'll be good," Mikey said with a firm tone.
"I promise Dad," I said rolling my eyes, resulting in Mikey grinning like a mad man. He wasn't expecting me to call him Dad and neither was I. Mikey walked onto the stage after Gerard, still beaming. Frank was following behind and patted my head as he walked past, which was weird since he had to reach up to get to my head. Frank really is that short, he's 2 inches shorter than I am. Ray smiled at me and Pedicone just glared, I just knew there was something up with him.
"I don't like him. There's something off about him," Luke said.
"Who? Pedicone?" I asked him, Luke nodded twirling his drum sticks in the air. "I haven't met him yet, he's never around and Mikey's never said anything. I'm sure I can get Gerard to tell me all about him tomorrow. Well if we don't attacked by fangirls anyway," I muttered the last part indignantly. I was a creepy, stalkerish, obsessed fangirl but I didn't go as far as half of the completely mental I-will-kill-all-band-members-girlfriends/wives-because-they-can-only-marry-me-or-who-I-ship-them-with fangirls. I loved Linsey, Alicia, Jamia and Christa even though I didn't know them. If they made Gerard, Mikey, Frank and Ray happy and loved them I was absolutely fine with it, it's their lives not mine. Then something occurred to me, they were going to be part of my life now. Linsey was my aunt, Alicia my step mum, Bandit my cousin and Christa and Jamia close enough to be considered family... I was going to be apart of their lives soon, well hopefully anyway.
