Chapter 17: Home

It was around Halloween, my favourite holiday. Also, my birthday was in the beginning of November so we were planning to kill the two birds with one stone. We decided to keep our costumes from each other, to be a surprise. So when I walked out dressed as Leeloo from Fifth Element , with orange spiky bob, white strapped costume on, black combat boots and silver fluffy fringe jacket on, he lost it.

"Fuuuu-uuck, I love Halloween!" he yelled with excitement and his hands grabbed my curves and he kissed my neck and shoulders.

"You cheeky sailor, you!" I said chuckling and looking at his appearance. He had black jeans, striped t-shirt, red sailor hat and some new tattoos drawn on his shoulders.

Lots of Jai's friends, my new friends were there greeting us with their drinks raised and cheered happy birthdays to me. Jai handed me a margarita and said "Babe, come here for a moment." he said placing his hand on my lower back "I thought long what to give to you as a present. I mean, aside from all the knick-knacks that ran through my mind, I wanted to give you something that can't be bought.. Two things actually." he turned around "Girls, you can come out now."

And all of a sudden Lily and Becky appeared in front of me yelling and screaming, they ran to hug me, crazy happy. Tears of happiness ran down on my face Lily wiped them off, both of them embracing me from my sides, our foreheads together. Jai took out his phone and took a picture from us "You like?" I nodded, he continued "Now lets get crazy!" he told and turned the music volume up.

We danced laughing and drinking cocktails, taking photos of each other. That was a crazy night to remember.

One morning when we were eating breakfast and I was reading the newspaper, Jai was scrolling the screen of his Ipad.

"Babe, you know my work here in New Orleans is done." he asked.

"Uh-uh" I said sipping my coffee glancing him over my coffee cup and continued reading.

"Can you please, put down the paper for a moment, it's important." he said dragging the newspaper on the table and taking my hand.

"Yes. I'm listening." I smiled at him giving him all my attention.

"So, as I was saying. I'm finished here long time ago. We're good to go." he continued.

"You mean L.A?" I specified. We had stayed to New Orleans a little longer so it would be easier for me to fly back and forth because of my job. Now it was the time to move.

"Yes, if it's okay with you." he hesitated.

"You know I can do my job from anywhere in the world." I laughed "L.A. seems awesome."

"Okay, great, we should look through real estate, to find a place, cause we need to move before Christmas." he said all determined and showing me few options "What do you think about these?.."

Time flew by fast. Since we both didn't have any specific needs regarding our new home, the real estate agent found us few options in a week. We packed our stuff and headed to L.A. where Jai had lots to do already, he had been going forth and back when I was few weeks away on my training.

Our new place was an apartment, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen and large balcony. A lot of my Jai-free time went to hours of choosing colours, shopping for home goods and furniture, ordering stuff online and going through yard sales. When I finally sat down on my office chair in one of the bedrooms I sighed. I had done a lot of work in here, so that this place feels and looks like home. Often I'd dozed off sitting on the sofa besides Jai, tho he was the one with the crazy work hours.

Although the whole apartment was beautiful and cosy I knew that it was missing one thing, one someone that makes me feel like home. Jai.

He'd been away for two days and was coming home in a few hours. I already wanted to see his reaction when he sees all of that. We'd been texting about all the decisions but he hadn't seen it.

The lock of our apartment door unlocked and the door opened. I ran to greet the sweaty and tired stack of meat with my hands wide open. He grabbed me and kissed me "Hi baby, I've missed you like crazy!" he said between the kisses.

"Me too, hun. Now close your eyes." I said and took the bags off of his shoulders and placing my hands on his eyes. He grabbed me by my thighs and took me on his back and started walking through the apartment, me giving him directions where to step and when to look.

"Babe, it's all amazing." he said sitting to our sofa kissing me "You did a good job."

"We did." I memorized the time we painted the bedroom wall together and we ended up making out on the floor covered with steaks of paint "Well, at least we tried." I added giggling.

"Yeah, that was fun." he smiled biting his lower lip "Bath?" I nodded and walked to the bathroom behind him.

After a while he said floating water on my breasts embracing me from behind "So it's Christmas soon. Any thoughts?"

"Well you know I would want to be with the girls since Kat wasn't able to fly to our Halloween/Birthday party." I answered waiting him to tell about his plans.

"And I want to go skiing and beat you in snow fighting." he added.

"But what about your parents, and your sister and Vashti and the kids?" I asked after I realized that it was selfish of me to want him to come with me.

"Well I've talked to them and they could be in Sydney on the 25-26th of December, so if we go meet everybody there first and then travel to spend time with your friends and then travel to New York to spend New Years Eve. How that sounds?" he proposed.

I wrapped my arms around his neck behind me "It sounds perfect. Thank you."

"You're so welcome. Give me a smooch." he said reaching out to kiss me.
