After a while when I was calm again, Jai mumbled against my hair "I talked with my lawyer." I pulled away from the hug, sighing.

"We need to look through some papers and decide what were doing next." he continued.

"What are the options?" I asked serious, staring my carpet again.

"Well, we can get an annulment and it'll be over before you can say kangaroo shits bricks." he explained with a sly smirk "Or." Is there another option? , I thought. Jai rubbed the back of his neck with his hand and paused to gather his thoughts "How are things with you father? Your.... chevaliers?" he asked with disgust on his face.

"Nothing, nowhere. I don't even want to hear what he has to say!" I said feeling my anger rising. Just to be safe I grabbed my phone and found an unread message.

"Nothing is carved in stone. I'll get you that annulment, it will be like this farce never happened. We will continue with our plan. You will meet everybody at the Gala next week. I'll keep you posted." I read the message with my hands shaking and my blood pressure rising. "No regrets, nothing.." I say in disappointed.

Jai listened to me, staring on the sofa, then there were moment of silence before he said "What if..." I looked at him.

"...we stay married?" he asked hitting his stare on me.

"Married?" I wondered if I had heard him right.

"Yeah." he said looking like he was doubting in it himself, in thoughts "My name can keep you safe." I thought about it, how weird this all was. But then again, he had made me feel safe. I nodded without even realizing it.

"Then it's settled- we stay married. For now." Now he stared in my eyes, serious as ever.

I just sat there, blank expression in my eyes "Just like that?" I asked.

"Do you have any other options?" he stood up but when I didn't have any answer he leaned down near me "Huh? Can't quite hear you!"

I shook my head. "That's what I thought." he said frowning his brows at me, He went by the window and stared to the distance. I sat on the sofa, staring him.

"What now?" I asked after a while.

"Now I need some beauty sleep, I'm fuckin buggered." he answered yawning but when he saw from my expression that this wasn't what I meant, he continued " I reckon we should head to LA together and work things out."

"LA?" I asked not believing what I just heard. Just like that? With him? To do what? All my life is here?

"Yeah. I mean I have work and I have to travel in the near future but nothing's stopping you to come with me." Jai said smiling and adding "Look, marriage is a great deal for me. I don't know what and why I rushed into it. Well, yeah I now what helped! It was that fucking dress you wore on that night and the way you were, it was ridiculously sexy. You can't blame me for wanting what I want." he said smirking his sexy smirk "But nonetheless, I intend to put my trust and faith in this marriage, whatever the reasons were. That's how I was raised. To honour and protect the women in my life." he ended his monologue, staring at me.

I didn't know what to say to him. Partly because I was surprised by his proposal, and because there wasn't anything holding me back. There wasn't any argument stating otherwise.

He came and planted a kiss on my forehead and his tired eyes searched the bedroom. I stood up and took his hand leading him to my bedroom. He stumbled right behind me, mumbling something about how tired he is. I took the covers off and he just crashed in my.. our bed. And there he was. Sound asleep.

Since it was daytime, I stayed up and thought about our next days with him. Katherine's and Eric's wedding was about to happen in a two days. Is Jai coming with me? Well, daah idiot, he's your husband! What better way to start showing it. Then there's a formality that we have to do in my home country- the matter of making our marriage official in here, too. Plus the formalities that come with the new name. Courtney. Anna Courtney. Wife of Jai Courtney. I have to sign documents. Paper. Pen.

Jai's POV:

I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling. For a second I forgot where I was, but then I heard deep steady breathing next to me. Anna. I'm at Anna's. When did she come to sleep? How long have I been sleeping? I reached my phone from the nightstand- it is 8.a.m, Saturday. Okay, 8 in the morning, I can work with that. I leave the bed carefully, not wanting to wake the sleeping beast. Well, with the hair and face like that, she looked like a beast. Still,...

I did some basic workout in her living room. Nothing much, just to keep the form. After that I went to take a quick shower and shaved. I took a clean t-shirt from my bag and put it on, looking at the pictures on the wall. Half dressed, only in my boxers and t-shirt, I walked to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast.
