the bet

"Evie?" the mystery boy says walking towards me slowly. I make eye contact through the mirror. He noticed how much I've been crying.

"What do you want?" I shoot back straight away.

"I'm Patrick, Patrick Higgins. I wanted to come to see if you were alright. So, are you okay?" Patrick says handing me paper towels. I look at him in disbelief. I can't tell if he's being serious or if he's lying. He sits down next to me and calms me down.

"I knew you were awake last night," Patrick says with a giggle. I look at him dead in the eye and burst out laughing.

"Hi, Patrick, nice to meet you. I haven't seen you around. Are you new?" I ask nudging closer to him every second I get. He notices and laughs.

"Please call me Pat or Patty, Patrick makes me feel old. And I've at Hogwarts for 4 years now so yeah it's been a while" Patrick says grabbing my hand with a firm grip. Then we both go silent.

"Can I ask you something?" I say breaking the awkward silence.

"Anything," Patrick says staring into my eyes. I don't answer for a second because I'm lost in his eyes. Beautiful bright green eyes. "Evie?" Patrick says with a giggle.

"oh... sorry, umm... what were you and Draco talking about late last night?" I say tearing up a little. As soon and he realizes, he wipes my tears away with his thumb. His touch is soft and gentle.

"Oh... well... we were just talking about how much Draco likes you," Patty says with the fakest smile I've ever seen. I giggle at the sight of him.

"Pfffffft.... I know he's only 'chasing' me because of some bet" I say with salty tears rolling down my face one after another. I get up and walk towards the door, but I get stopped by Patty spinning me around to face him.

"I want you to know that I had nothing to do with that, I actually tried to stop it. I hate seeing you like this, and I know that it's partially my fault" Patty says stepping closer to me. Our faces are now inches away from each other. We both lean in and his soft gentle lips touch mine as he grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him. The kiss was passionate. It felt like nothing I've ever felt before. It was the best 3 minutes of my life. Until I heard the door slam open. I whip my head around and my eyes meet Draco's. He was standing in the doorway with his arms crossed. Patty lets go of my waist and grabs my hand firmly.

"What do you want Malfoy?" I say letting go of Patty's hand and walking towards Draco. I stand a meter away from him and cross my arms too.

"You look like you've moved on..." Draco says staring into my eyes. "....to my best friend," Draco says looking around me to see Patty.

"MOVE ON?! What did you think we were dating?!" I say getting a little sassy.

"Weren't we?" Draco says getting confused.

"We had one kiss... oh and by the way, it's the end of the week so I'm moving into the Gryffindor dorms tomorrow night," I say grabbing Patty's hand and walking down the hallway leaving Draco with so many questions.
