terrible timing

Patty and I walk up the astronomy tower before breakfast. We sit by the ledge and our legs dangle off the edge. We start to talk and get to know each other.

"So, now you know all about my family, let me hear about yours," Patty says grabbing my hand and smiling.

"Well... as you know, Harry Potter's my big brother and we've been close for as long as I can remember... my mum and I have always had a perfect relationship, like the ones you see on TV," I say while smiling.

"What about you dad?" Patty says getting confused.

"Umm..." I say tearing up. "... he died several years ago... and ever since then, I've struggled a lot with mental health issues," I say wiping tears from my red cheeks.

"I'm so sorry I- I had no idea," Patty says as he pulls me in for a hug. I couldn't resist his touch.

"It's fine..." I say standing up and pulling him up too. "... we better get to class, or we'll be late," I say walking down the stairs really fast. Patty chases after me and grabs my waist from behind, and spins me around. Our eyes meet as he swipes my brown, curly hair behind my ears. I give him a big hug and continue running away. I get into the dining hall and wait for him. A minute later he comes running in huffing and puffing. I start laughing at him as he's gasping for air. I walk up to him once he catches his breath. Our faces now millimeters away from each other. I could feel all the eyes turn to us. He puts his hand on my cheek as he looks down at my rosy pink lips. We both lean in for a kiss. It was magic. I could feel everyone's eyes, especially Draco's. Draco pushes past me, breaking the kiss. I immediately feel bad for what had just happened.

"Draco, wait!" I yelled running after him. As soon as I reach him, I spin him around to face me. I could see tears rolling down his cheeks.

"What do you want Evie?" Draco says trying not to burst into tears. I grab his hand, but he pulls away.

"I want a chance to explain myself," I say looking at the ground and fiddling my fingers.

"I don't want to hear it, but I do need to ask you something?" Draco says with a serious face.

"Umm... okay, what is it?" I say curious about what he's going to say.

"Why did you do that? After everything that happened, you're just going to stand here and choose my BEST FRIEND OVER ME" Draco says raising his voice. I feel so guilty about the pain I was obviously putting Draco through. I run off to grab my things from Draco's room. I go straight to Hermione's dorm, where I'll stay for the next week. I jump on the spare bed and start crying. I soon hear the dorm door slam open and a familiar voice speaking.

"Evie?! What happened?!" Hermione says rushing over to my bed.

"I'm so stupid... why did I have to do that to Draco. I loved him and I broke his heart, but I didn't do it by accident either" I say wiping my tears from my cheeks. Harry runs in with tissues.

"HARRY!" I yell running and giving him a big hug. "I'm so sorry for what I did, do you forgive me?" I say taking some tissues and wiping my eyes.

"I forgive you, I'm just happy that he didn't hurt you," Harry says with a giggle. I start laughing. We all laugh until Ron comes in.

"What? Is there something in my hair?" Ron says brushing his hand through his hair. We all burst out laughing. Hours full of jokes and funny faces.
