"He's outside." Mary, Opie's mother, told me as she took the pan of lasagna that I held out for her.
"Okay, I'm gonna go see how he's doing." I gave her arm a small squeeze as I walked past her. It was only a second before I saw Ope sitting at a picnic table, watching Kenny and Ellie swing.
"Hey Bubba." I didn't call him that very often anymore, but when I was younger, it was his main nickname. "I'm not going to ask how you're doing because I can only imagine how you're doing." I was rambling. Opie nodded, letting out a small sigh.
"I'm glad you're here. I'm sure the kids are too." Opie finally spoke up, looking over at me.
"I'll always be here for you, Ope. Those kids as well." I assured him.
"Can I have a minute?" Jax spoke as he walked into the backyard.
"Yeah." I quickly gave Opie a hug and decided that I should go home for a few before the funeral.
<<Small time skip>>
I had just walked through my door when my phone rang. I smiled, seeing the name pop up.
"Aye love." His voice flowed through the speaker.
"Hi, is everything alright?" I asked, concern flooding my veins.
"Everything is a'right, Lass. I just wanted ta make sure ya were fine." Chibs explained, making me sigh in relief.
"I'm alright, I swung by Opie's earlier." I informed him. "I made him a lasagna." I continued to speak.
"I'm sure he appreciates that. How was tha lad?" Chibs asked, his accent thick.
"Not great, but that's expected." I said. It was a few seconds before he replied and I heard voices in the background.
"Ya call if ya need anything." He muttered.
"I will. Are you busy?" I questioned, not wanting to keep him from doing something. I heard what I thought sounded like Bobby say something, but I couldn't make it out.
"Aye, I got ta go now. I'll call ya in while." He answered. I let out a small sigh, trying to figure out something to keep myself distracted until the funeral .
