"Hisoka is the first to clear phase three, (Y/N) is the second, completion time: 6 hours and 43 minutes." A robotic voice narrates your arrival as you and Hisoka enter the circular room.

"Well, that was as easy as anticipated.~" Hisoka flipped out a playing card and took a spot against the wall.

You silently sat against a separate wall a few feet away from him, pulling your knees against your chest, curling up under the cover of your cloak.

A few minutes seemed to pass before you suddenly felt a presence beside you. An arm fell around your shoulder, hugging you to their body.

You would notice his sweet scent anywhere.

"Hisoka-" you started, "shh,~" he said softly.

You looked up at him, he was still playing with his cards, his face giving away no emotion. Your first instinct was to shove him away, but you didn't.

The warmth of his body comforted you and helped to ease the pain and grief that had been brewing beneath the service ever since you saw Haru.

"You should wear your hood down more.~" His voice pulled you out of your thoughts, and you stared at him surprised.

He continued to do what he was doing, not sparing you a glance. Finally, he smiled, "It makes you feel even stronger.~"

Your eyes widened and you looked down, a tear streaming down one of your cheeks.

"Kiri always said how pretty she thought I was..." Your voice trailed off, more tears threatening to spill over.

Hisoka didn't say anything, the sound of him shuffling cards lulling you into a comfortable silence.

A few hours later, the robotic voice rang out, "Gittarackur is the third to clear phase three, completion time: 12 hours and 21 minutes."

You looked up as the reported examinee entered the room, his rickety appearance put you on edge, as well as something else that seemed... off.

His eyes locked on the two of you almost as soon as he entered, was that anger you saw in his eyes? Jealousy?

You glanced at Hisoka and was surprised to see him staring right back at the newcomer as if they were having some high-stakes staring contest.

Do they know each other?

A few more seconds passed before the one known as Gittarackur finally looked away, taking up a sitting position on the opposite side of the room.

You looked back at Hisoka who was smirking with his eyes closed, a look of victory.

Your eyes narrowed, what just happened? You took a mental note to ask Hisoka of the exchange later and looked over to Gittarackur who was also sitting against the wall with his eyes closed.

Unnerved by the whole event, you drew your legs close and laid your head on Hisoka's shoulder. The warmth from his body eased your mind, and you slowly closed your eyes, vaguely aware of the strange gaze from earlier on you, before drifting off into sleep.

"Is she out?" Gittarackur asked.

Hisoka gazed down at your sleeping figure, eyeing the yellow needle that penetrated your leg.

He placed a hand on your cloaked head, taking in the rise and fall of your body as you slept.

"Yes.~" he replied.

Gittarackur stared at him, "what are you playing at?"

Hisoka closed his eyes, smiling thoughtfully before replying, "helping you of course.~"

"How so?" Gittarackur asked.

"Similar to what you did, gain her affections and break her heart." Hisoka looked at him, "she'll come crying back into your arms.~"

Gittarackur stared back at him, unblinking, and placed a hand on his chin as if to think it over. "Hm, I guess that makes sense."

Suddenly, the room darkened, and Gittarackurs aura flared around him, creating a purple vortex that radiated his bloodlust. "But if you are to interfere with my plan, I will kill you."

Hisoka, unaffected, smirked and nodded, "naturally.~"

Gittarackur relaxed his aura and went to remove the needle from your leg before Hisoka motioned with his hand to stop.

"Let her rest.~" He gazed down at your sleeping form, gently pulling down your hood to stroke your (H/C) hair.

"She's had a long day.~" He leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes, letting the slow beat of your heart against his chest remind him of the events to come.
