You and Hisoka remained together for the rest of the phase, both of you having already acquired your tags.
"Looks like it's time to head back." You said, examining your watch.
"Mmm yes, I do agree it's time to return to the real world.~" Hisoka walked up beside you, placing his hand on your lower back.
You shot him a small smile and walked out of the mouth of the cave, a light drizzle falling through the trees, droplets of water colliding against your skin.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh scent of the water-soaked forest. You had always loved the rain, it felt like the world's way of starting fresh, washing away the pain and hardship to start anew the next day.
You reached up and pulled down your hood, letting the rainfall across your face.
Hisoka watched you from the cave, his face passive as he thought about the possible events of the next phase. It's clear now that I won't be able to break her,~ his eyes narrowed, Illumi will probably try to kill me because of it.~
He watched as you extended both of your arms, smiling up at the sky as the rain intensified and pelted your figure. It's also difficult to predict how (Y/N) will react to his reveal, her reaction could determine the both of our fates.~
He smirked and crossed his arms, closing his eyes as he tilted his head towards the ground. At least it will be entertaining.~

A few hours later, you and Hisoka arrived at the finish line.
You were happy to see Killua as you walked into the clearing, standing nonchalantly to the side, four tags in hand.
He refused to look at you, sending a pang through your heart even though you knew it was necessary. I'm doing this for the both of us Kill.
You stood next to Hisoka off to the side, taking note of the remaining applicants as they presented their tags. Leorio, Kurapika, Gon, Pokkle, Gittarackur, Hanzo, Killua, Hisoka, and you.
You eyed Gittarackur, his disturbing appearance continuing to put you on edge, dammit I meant to ask Hisoka about him, maybe after the exam.
You turned away and boarded the boat, Zevil Island fading into the background.

Soon after boarding the airship to the final phase for the last time, you were called to Chairman Netero's office.
Hisoka had gone not long before you, and you were curious what the chairman had in mind.
When you entered his office, the man motioned for you to sit in front of him. You complied, quietly taking a seat.
"I have but two questions for you (Y/N), out of all the remaining applicants, who interests you the most and who would you avoid fighting?"
You were minorly surprised by his question, I'm guessing he's planning some sort of event that pits us against each other.
You smiled slightly and replied quickly, immediately knowing your answer.
"I find Hisoka the most intriguing, due to reasons you most likely know given the fact that each examinee had an observer tracking them throughout the 4th phase."
Netero didn't seem at all surprised that you knew of the observers and waited for your response to his second question.
"For who I would prefer not to fight, I'd have to say Gittarackur. I feel uneasy when he's around and suspect something more going on with him."
Netero raised his eyebrows slightly, "what do you suspect exactly?"
You brought your hand to your chin, thinking it over. "I'm not quite sure, but I doubt it's anything good."
Netero stared at you curiously for a second longer before waving his hand to dismiss you.
You stood up and left the room.
Meanwhile, Gittarackur had intercepted Hisoka in the hall.
"Have you succeeded?" Gittarackur questioned, his voice dark.
Hisoka eyed him passively before smirking, "Mm, yes, she's completely obsessed with me, breaking her will be easy.~"
Gittarackur stared at him, unmoving, before eventually continuing down the hall. "Just remember what I said."
He momentarily flared his aura, the dangerous nature of his intent creating a dark atmosphere around the two of them.
Hisoka kept his eye on Gittarackur until he disappeared down the hall. I hope you're ready (Y/N).~ He smiled maniacally, this couldn't be more exciting.~

A few hours later, you all arrived at the final testing site and were led into a large room where a covered board awaited.
"Welcome to the final phase of the hunter exam," Netero said. "Let's get right into it."
He pulled off the cover to reveal a bracket, with the applicant's faces lining the bottom.
You smiled smugly, a tournament bracket, I knew it.
Netero proceeded to explain the rules of the tournament, basically saying that whoever failed to win a match, failed the exam.
When you saw your opponent on the board, you couldn't help but grin.
You glanced at Hisoka who stood a few feet away, he met your eyes, a wide smile on his face, his excitement apparent.
There on the board, you and Hisoka's pictures were connected with a thin line.
Bring it on Hisoka.
