Hyemi's heart broke. Not only had someone broken into her studio and seen her private paintings, but they'd also taken it upon themselves to vandalise one of the ones that she needed to submit for a grade. The days spent perfecting the piece were now wasted. It was a completely changed style, entirely the wrong medium. There was no way she'd be able to submit it now because it didn't fit the criteria. Tears spilt endlessly down her face until a small black marking in the corner turned her sadness into pure rage. This had crossed the line.
Taking the canvas with her, the manhunt began. Blood pounded through her veins and egged her on. She should have known to find him in the gym with the other members at this time of the morning. Ordinarily, she would avoid the gym like the plague when the members were in there. It was hard to focus on her work out with a constant commentary of teasing overpowered the music in her headphones. The Maknae-line primarily enjoyed challenging her to something they knew she was bound to lose, for no other purpose than to taunt her about it later on.
"Yah, Hyemi!" Jungkook cried, pulling his shirt from the floor to cover his exposed torso at the sight of her stalking towards him. Raised voices attracted the other members like vultures to an abandoned carcass. Paying the scavengers no mind, Mimie's vision tunnelled on Jungkook.
Only Joon was familiar with the deadly expression on her face as she dropped the canvas on the end of the bench between Jungkook's legs. If looks could kill, the power of the Hyemi's scowl would have wiped out the whole building.
"Woah- that looks so cool-," Tae began, swiftly receiving an elbow to the ribs that shut him up in time for Hyemi's eyes to snap his way and practically wind him with her venomous stare. The expression on her face was not dissimilar to Bang PD's angry expression- although they did share genetics so it wasn't unusual. Bang PD's angry expression was seared into their memory, so seeing the look replacing her usual bright smiley face left them all chilled to the core.
"Oh, yeah, I fixed it," Jungkook chirped proudly, acting as if he wasn't impacted by the reserved, unrelenting scrutiny she held him under. Her expression remained unchanged and unaffected by his feeble effort to be cute.
Eventually, the persistent silence matched with her ruthless glare began to bother the maknae, who had begun shifting a little in his seat, desperate to think of anything to say to fill the silence.
"Don't you like it?" Nothing returned. She offered no response other than a blink. Their uninvited audience felt like they were watching a car crash and yet were unable to look away no matter how much they desired to be anywhere else in the world at that moment. "You don't have to say thank you, it's ok," Hyemi wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry or scream or slap the idiot. Thankfully, the smug expression was quickly fading from his face as she still refused to utter a word. "What's the big deal? It's just a painting," The weight of all the eyes on him was beginning to suffocate Jungkook.
