(A/n: how can a person be so pretty when crying 💔)
The door to her studio was unlocked when Hyemi arrived and instantly her body tensed because she was certain that she'd locked it before she'd gone home last night.
"Jungkook?" The boy turned at the sound of his name when Hyemi finally entered her own studio, but he wasn't entirely all present... mentally.
"Mmm," He sounded in acknowledgement
"What are you doing here?" Hyemi questioned as she dropped her bag beneath her desk, following her head over her shoulder, she turned back to JK, still gripping the flask of coffee she'd brought from home.
"Huh?" his eyes finally lifted to her before the brow creased deeply in thought, "Oh, I don't really know... sorry," It was unnerving seeing Jungkook in this state, mostly because she'd gotten used to his biting comebacks and underhand-digs that kept him endlessly amused with winding her up.
As quickly as he'd looked to her, he'd dropped his gaze to the object gripped tightly in her hands, any small movements dragged the metal of her rings along the textured surface of the container making a nice that JK could feel in his teeth and left him uncomfortable.
"Right, well Uncle Sihyuk is looking for you," She spoke slowly, eyeing his weird behaviour suspiciously. If she'd hadn't known better she might have thought Jungkook drunk- but he was a giggly, playful drunk, this half-conscious mess was not the product of alcohol.
"I know,"
"You know and you're not there, brave," she murmured, only half interested now that Jungkook seemed to be returning to normal.
A moment more silence passed before Jungkook spoke up in a timid voice,
"Do you know what they're about to tell me?" Once again Hyemi was thrown by his behaviour and she considered for a moment that she might be witnessing the maknae's mental and emotional breakdown. Although given that she'd only ever seen him display, two (maybe) emotions, that wasn't a likely risk. Ok, that wasn't exactly fair. Namjoon had ranted to her before about the subtle ways Jungkook demonstrated his emotions and how he struggled to keep up sometimes. But she'd only ever witnessed him excitable or pissed off. That is, she'd only seen those before this moment, because whatever was going on with him now was unprecedented for her.
It only took Mimie a moment to gather her words and reply, but she felt like she'd had enough thoughts to last a year in that time.
"I may have an idea," Gulping and blinking was the initial reaction that Jungkook gave. He didn't appear all that bothered by Mimie somehow knowing his personal business before he did.
"I'm not ready to hear it," As if he'd read her mind, JK explained himself. He seemed to already have a pretty good idea about what CEO Bang wanted to tell him. It wasn't nerves she was witnessing, but dread.
