"Hyung, what time is Mimie getting here?" Jungkook finally asked Joon, after spending half an hour working up the courage. And then another ten minutes, practising saying it in a way that didn't give the impression he was itching out of his own skin to see her.
"She's not coming, Jungkook-ah, don't worry," Joon chuckled, misreading the cautiousness in the maknae's tone.
"Why not?"
"She said she had a date?"
"A date?"
"Yeah, with Seo,"
Jungkook flinched, not just at the name, but at the development. Yesterday he was 'that Seo guy' and today he was just Seo. Did that mean something? It had to. Maybe Mimie had implied that he was more than just some guy now. It had only been a few days and yet he'd already lost his chance.
Back up. His chance? What did that mean? How had he gotten from maybe the kiss meant something, to him needing 'a chance'. After all, it was still Mimie. She was still off-limits. Namjoon had made that very clear. And even if he hadn't, Mimie had worked her socks off to keep herself at a distance from JK since he had kissed her and if that wasn't a big phat nope to the face, then he was delusional and an idiot.
The rest of the evening he spent drinking whatever he was handed and avoiding conversation, worried he'd admit to something he wanted to keep to himself. Something like his feelings for Mimie. It had been a long week for everyone, but more so Jungkook, which was probably why his hyungs didn't pressure him to keep up with their energy.
Perhaps the worst part was how unproductive the trip had felt. From their management's perspective, it had been a busy week. The 200th Run episode was a big deal. But to Jungkook, he had spent a week doing absolutely nothing, not even able to catch up on lost sleep because he had too many things on his mind.
"Jiminieee," Jungkook sang, wandering around the grass in just his socks, staining then green and yellow and brown but not caring even a little. It was too dark to see anyway.
"Kookie, I can't find you!" the smaller man returned with a laugh in his tone,
"I'm out here!"
"Huh?" Jimin's little blond head poked out from the sliding doors first, followed quickly by the rest of him.
The pair of them fell into a bundle on the grass, struggling to see in the pitch black of night.
"I have to tell you a secret!" Jungkook whisper-yelled, ending up on his back, while Jimin was busy pushing himself back up to sitting.
"I love secrets!"
"It's about Hyemi-ssi," the maknae slurred, glad for the darkness now because his cheeks were heating up.
