Zel was surprised to be leaving the house. Even more surprised to be leaving the house without the Master by his side or however the rules wanted it.
"We'll be there shortly sir," the chauffeur told him. He'd been professional through out the entire event, keeping a cool head like none of this was strange.
"Don't call me sir!" Zel giggled. "That's silly! It's just Zel, please call me Zel."
"Alright sir," the chauffeur whose name Zel came to quickly learn was Keaton, immediately replied.
Zel harrumphed. "You're not even trying!"
"Sorry. I can't do it," he finally gave up.
They would have driven in silence for the rest of the distance if it weren't for his continuous bickering and failure to stay still.
He managed to find out that Keaton was married to a woman exactly his height, and they had three daughters. Zel had already picked a favorite without ever even seeing her.
By the end of the ride, Zel made Keaton swear that they were friends although they hadn't even spoken for more than an hour. The older man smiled at him and replied. "If I have a son, I want him to be just like you."
Zel's reply was an emotional flutter of words, he honestly didn't know how he was supposed to reply.
He was only distracted by the sudden sight of the Master pulling his door open.
"Daddy!" His arms shot wide as he moved forward until he was engulfed in the Master's embrace.
"You're still mad at me right?"
Zel loved hearing that voice. No matter what the time or day was.
"Don't get any ideas, I still am. It doesn't mean I can't be happy to see you."
He pulled away to look at his face but the Master wasn't looking at him. It was strange, almost like he was trying to hide his face away. To him, it just didn't fit the man he was slowly coming to know.
"Listen Zel, I'm uh..." he drifted off as he spoke.
"Are you nervous?" Zel asked, genuinely trying to figure it out.
The Master scoffed. "I'm sorry about... that," he sighed. "Fuck. I'm sorry okay?"
"You have to work on that." Zel was smiling despite of it all. "But I'll take it."
It was Zel looking up at the Master, and the Master looking down at him. An unreadable expression on his face, and a big boyish smile on Zel's.
Zel didn't see the Master's hands twitch by his side, as if itching to reach out. The Master didn't see Zel's mildly sweaty palms clasped together behind his back. Only the silence stretched between them until Zel broke it.
"Daddy why did you bring me here? You could have done this at home right?"
He really could have, it wasn't even a really big deal.
"There," he pointed to a huge building. The sign read 'TULE' in a way that looked as authentic as anything could get. It was a store, and an expensive looking one at that. "I wanted to bring you here."
