Promise

Taking a deep breath I turned my phone off and placed it in my glove compartment. I don't know what made me come here and what even convinced me that this would be a good idea but it needed to get done. I know for a fact Major would go the fuck off if he knew that I set this up but it's just something I feel like I need to do. Hopefully I won't regret it.

"Alright Promise, get it together. You can do this." I climbed out of my car the best way I could then made my way into the restaurant.

"Can I help you?" The hostess asked when she saw me.

"Yes, I'm Promise King I reserved a table for three."

"Oh right this way, Mr. King is already here." She smiled then led the way to the table. When I saw my father sitting there the butterflies in my stomach started fluttering. It was either that or my baby was doing the bank head bounce. Either way, I was beyond nervous already and I didn't even sit down yet.

"Do you want anything to drink?" The hostess asked me.

"Water will be fine," I gave her a small smile before sitting down across from my dad. "Hi dad," I said in a low tone.

"Promise, so your mother wasn't lying. You're really pregnant."

"She told you?"

"Your mother isn't really good at keeping secrets you know that. I just have one question Promise."

"Alright and that is?"

"Why him? Los Angeles is a huge city why Major Brown?"

"It wasn't on purpose it's not like you ever told me about the situation with his dad so how was I supposed to know who I needed to stay away from."

"Okay, you got me there."

"Listen I know you don't like my decision, I know you don't like Major or his family and I know why because his mother told me everything."

"You spoke to Eva? About....Everything?"

"Yes, they came by my house on Thanksgiving and talked to Major and I."

"Who is they?"

"Eva and mama, they even ate with us and I couldn't help but feel a little bit of a way because you weren't there. Hell I even missed Cherish and she hates me."

"Cherish doesn't hate you, I didn't know your mother went to see you on Thanksgiving. She told me you spoke but didn't say when. Promise that was how many months ago?"

"Almost three, I had my first thanksgiving without you, Christmas and New Year's do you know how hard that was?"

I put on a good face for Major through the holidays because I didn't want him to feel bad about anything but seriously it killed me that I couldn't spend Christmas with my family. Sure they were mean and selfish a lot of the times but it doesn't change the fact that they are who they are to me.

"I can imagine because I had to deal with. Your mother is barely talking to me, she says little things here and there but it's not like it was. I don't know where your sister is and you're in my reach but I couldn't talk to you because of all of this foolishness."

"So stop the foolishness then, I'm about to be a parent okay and I can't imagine going through this without having you guys around."

"It's not that easy Promise,"

"It is that easy you just have to put your pride aside and talk to that man. Daddy you know you were wrong for sleeping with his wife."

"Of course I was but hell he forgave her and moved on he chose to keep hating me so it is what it is."
