"Rodimus? Did you hear me? I said I think there's a Sparkeater on board." Red Alert repeated himself through the com link.
Hina was starting to get nervous. Just what was a Sparkeater exactly? Was it some sort of Cybertronian beast? Was it a monster?
The others didn't seem to be as nervous as she was, especially Rodimus. He actually grinned after a long pause. "Cool." he commented.
He turned over back over looking the ships crew members, catching their attention. "Listen up, everyone! There's been a bit of an incident on the lower decks. Nothing to worry about, but as a precaution I'd like everyone to pair off, find a habitation suite, and wait inside until I give the all clear. Everyone, that is, except Ratchet, Trailbreaker, and Chromedome. You three are with me.
Just a precautionary measure in response to something absolutely unremarkable and actually quite boring. But if anyone here does happen to carry industrial strength energy dampeners, or turn into a nullification booth, or is able to generate level 9 containment fields, then hey! Feel free to tag long.
So, um... 'Till all are one!"
Once Rodimus was done with his announcement, the crew members went quickly, finding partners and leaving the room.
"Let's get going."
Rodimus took the lead as everyone else followed him. But as Hina began to move forward she stopped, pondering the thought of running into a Sparkeater. The image in her processor made her shiver. What would happen to her friends, to her if they found it?
"Hina?"
Hina left her train of thought, shaking her helmet as she came back to reality. Drift was standing beside her, the others long gone.
"Yeah?"
"Did you want to stay in a habitation suite? You don't have to come if you don't want to." He said.
"Hmm? Oh.... uh, it's okay. I'll come along. besides--" She smiled, wrapping her arms around his arm. "I've got you to protect me, right?"
Drift smiled, kissing her forehead. "Of course I will. Come on, let's catch up with the others."
*******
The scene that Hina saw next made her want to puke. A dead Autobot, chest with a whole in it and his mouth piece wide open was on the floor, energon leaked from his body and onto the floor.
"I didn't think they were real. I thought they were like the Shimmer or the Necrobot or the Seething Moon." said Trailbreaker.
"People are afraid to believe. Sparkeaters, Cybervores, Soulsnatchers, the nightmare with a thousand names." Drift replied, squeezing Hina's hand tightly as she poked up over Drift's shoulder, taking one more glance at the dead body.
"Yeah, but has anyone SEEN one before?" Trailbreaker asked.
"I once arrested a Decepticon who thought he was a Sparkeater. He called himself the Dark Assassin, the Devourer of Souls and Propagator of Infinite Sin." Ultra Magnus explained.
"Who was he?" Hina asked.
"His real name was Blip." He answered.
Huh..... that's not scary at all.
"I've got 29 seconds of grainy footage that's supposed to show a Sparkeater attacking the Gimlin Facility on Varas Centralus. Varas or Veras, one of the two." said Rewind, pushing a button on his camera.
Hina jumped in, placing a hand on the Minicon. "That's quite alright Rewind! We don't need to see the slide show."
"Maybe Versus? You know, it could be--"
