Leonardo's P.O.V.

For the past three days, I had been seated in the study attempting to download the documents Mr. Walker had emailed me. Following our makeup, he had sent me a very scathing email reprimanding me for not returning his calls and informing me that my "vacation" was now over. Although it wasn't my fault, the lack of strong internet signals and cell phone coverage in our rural location was the cause for the issue.

But who could have predicted that blocking my boss' number could be such a detrimental decision? In the secluded back of our house, a small area was set up to make it feel private, yet comfortable. With a big desk and chair, it was filled with a few books and a plastic plant, as Vinnie was not known for his gardening abilities, and a real plant wouldn't have survived with him.

Slumped in my chair, I couldn't help but flinch as Vinnie came closer. "I've made some hot cocoa for you that should help you relax." He held onto two mugs, offering me one of them with a friendly gesture.

I took the mug and set it down on the table before giving him a playful punch in the arm. "You really scared me, you jerk!"

He adjusted his reading glasses, which perched on top of the bridge of his nose, and spoke with a gentle admonishment, "You really do get scared too easily, don't you? One minute it's bugs, the next it's this."

During our cocoa break, Vinnie concluded his cup and placed it down on the desk in front of him. As he kneaded my shoulders, I felt a wave of comfort. "How's it going?" he inquired.

I let out a sigh, "It's not," putting the mug down, I continued. "He gave me all these documents cause I was slacking off. Yeah, he's got a point, but it's not like this is my fault. It's your Wi-Fi provider's and your choice to live in the middle of nowhere."

He continued his massage on my shoulders, and my muscles start to loosen as he spoke, saying "Hey, show some love to château de Vinnie. It's had its fair share of ups and downs. Your boss is a real a-hole. You've put up with him for way too long. I think you should leave that job. From what you told me it seems like a really unhealthy place to work. That way, we could be together all the time, like a stay-at-home couple. And we could buy him and him shirts!"

I placed my hand over his, feeling the warmth of his skin as I ran my fingers over the ridges of his knuckles. Meeting his gaze, I said, "There have been mostly downs, but we made it work. You've gotta be kidding about the shirts. We're pretty much married to the couch already, babe."

Vinnie inched forward, captivated by the screen in front of him. He questioned, "Do you think I could give it a try? It doesn't seem too complicated."

"Are you sure? When you're feeling stressed, your forehead gets all wrinkly."

He let out a laugh and shook his head, rejecting the idea, "No, that's not true – it never has been."

We shared a look that said it all. "Yes, it has, multiple times. But, okay, give it a go."

After several minutes of him toiling away with deep concentration and his forehead wrinkled in thought, the files were retrieved. I couldn't help but show my appreciation and admiration for his hard work, so I leaned up and planted a sweet kiss on his cheek. "Whoa, how did you pull that off?"

He spoke with great pride in his voice when he said, "It was pretty easy, actually, I'm the next Tim Berner Lee!" His words caused me to roll my eyes in disbelief. He continued, "Also because I was a CS major too."

I spun around to face him, "I can't picture you in computer science?"

"Me either. That's why I dropped out. What about you, smarty pants? What did you major in?" he asked.
