Vinnie's P.O.V

We were in a desolate car park, and I suggested to Leo that we exchange places. I then produced a stack of orange cones that I had concealed in the boot of the vehicle.

His brow was raised, a mixture of curiosity and apprehension crossing his visage. "What's going on, Vinnie?"

I turned to him with a mischievous smile and said, "Fancy a little driving adventure?"

He seemed both intrigued and anxious. "I'm not sure about this. I've never actually been behind the wheel before..."

I let out a light-hearted chuckle as I motioned to the cones in front of us. "Today," I announced, "we're going to change that. I set up a mini obstacle course, and your first task is to complete a zigzag without knocking any of the cones down."

I walked him through the fundamentals of the car's control functions, guiding him until he felt safe and confident in the driver's seat. Taking a deep breath, he grasped the steering wheel with a firm hold and began to drive.

"Alright, slowly ease your foot onto the gas pedal and start moving forward."

Leo followed my instructions, and the car moved forward with a smooth, gentle motion. As we arrived at the first set of cones, I gestured with for him to make the turn. His hands were firm as we manoeuvred the initial cone. His forehead creased in deep concentration as we drove towards the subsequent obstacle. Thump! The front of the car hit the cone, causing it to topple over. I winced sympathetically, but my grin remained intact.

"Uh oh," he stammered, a hint of shame colouring his words.

"You just killed a man" I quipped, joking about his performance, eliciting a grin from him. "It's just part of the process," I encouraged brightly. " Let's take another stab at it - and remember to stay nice and steady!"

He gave a decisive nod, his determination to succeed this time evident. Taking a deep breath, he eased drove the car forward, following my directions to a tee. Unfortunately, his anxiety caused him to miss a cone, sending it crashing to the ground with a loud thud.

I erupted into peals of laughter. "Well, it looks like we need to brush up on your 'nice and steady' technique!"

Leonardo's expression was a complex mix of feelings; he had a slight grin of amusement, while still having a hint of irritation. His laughter accompanied mine, creating a pleasant atmosphere. "I swear, those cones have it out for me."

"Don't let them get the upper hand!" I said with a smile. "Think of it as an opportunity to improve! Why don't we try a few more times and see how it goes?"

With a determined spirit and a dash of humour, we spent the afternoon conquering the obstacle course. With every trial, his confidence strengthened, and his steering grew more reliable. In the end, he had no difficulty smoothly navigating through the cones.

"See, Leo? You're a natural," I praised.

A broad, genuine smile spread across his face, cheeks flushed with a feeling of pride and accomplishment. "Thanks Vinnie. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might actually get my license."

"See driving can be fun," I gave a cheeky wink as I suggested, "Next time, we'll tackle parallel parking!" We collected the scattered cones, and I moved to the driver's seat to take the wheel.

The kitchen was alive with activity as we prepared our meal. Sizzling pans, chopping knives, and clinking utensils created a melodious soundscape. The delicious scent of herbs and spices harmonized with the mouth-watering savour of roasting vegetables, making the air almost palatable.
