Penny awoke to the sounds of birds chirping and the rooster crowing.
She rubbed her eyes and stretched out her legs and arms, hitting her hand off of the ladder.
"Shit!" She scolded herself, quiet enough that she wouldn't wake anyone.
She rubbed her other hand over it to soothe the pain and then swung her legs out of bed.
Going over to her trunk and picking out an outfit for the day. Because the campers weren't going to be here for a another couple of days, the counsellors didn't have to wear their uniforms yet.
Well they weren't really uniforms, they were more like hi-vis jackets with their names on and a whistle. It's all they'd need day-to-day.
She grabbed the clothes she needed along with her towel and her wash-bag. Slipping on her sliders and making her way out of the cabin to the showers.
She'd figured out pretty early in her counsellor life, that if you want to get in a decent shower, you are better off going early.
As she descended the steps, she noticed Harry making his own way back from the boy's showers. His hair was still wet and hanging over his face. He flicked back his head to get the wet strands away from his eyes.
Let me tell you... this was a sight to behold.
All he had on was a pair of shorts and sliders. Showing off all of the tattoos he had on his arms and torso. Some of them looked incredibly intricate and others were too small for Penny to make out.
His arms were full of, what Penny assumed, were clothes he'd slept in, his wash-bag and his towel.
Harry soon caught Penny staring. The biggest smile appeared on his face as he called over to her.
"Morning Penny!"
"Morning! How'd you find your first Crescent shower?"
Penny knew full well the showers were hit or miss. Some days they were amazing. A blissful experience through the American Summer heat, but other times they just didn't work at all. You'd be fighting for 10 minutes trying to get a decent temperature.
"Not bad. I've had worse." He laughed as he waved goodbye, heading inside.
....
"The day is yours to live! You have free reign of everything as usual. However, if I catch wind or sight of any misuse you know what happens. You've all signed the contracts and health and safety. I trust you to act as you would if the kids were around. Enjoy yourselves and behave!" Meg called out.
Everyone erupted into clapping and cheers as Meg laughed and headed back inside her office.
"What're the plans y'all?" Becca gathered all the girls around her. Penny had her arm draped over Cami's shoulders.
"I mean I was gonna head down to the lake for a while. Already got my swimsuit on underneath this!" Di called as she lifted up her top to reveal her costume.
"Why're are you always the more prepared of us all?" Cami questioned her.
Di just shrugged with a smile on her face.
"We all up for the lake then?" Becca asked everyone now. She was met with nods and hums in agreement.
The girls who weren't as prepared as Di, all ran back to the cabins to put on their swimsuits and bikinis.
