The Beginning of Something More (SECOND BOOK)

The Video Footage

Brandon's Point of View

I look down and then look up again at Nikki. My eyes widen when I see that she's crying. Even the principal looks a little startled by her crying. She looks up at me and smiles, tears falling down her face, and my heart breaks.

She just squeezes my hand and smiles again, and at first I can't understand, but I think she's trying to assure me that it's okay.

She looks at me and seems to search my eyes, and after a few seconds, she just chuckles softly and shakes her head.

She brings her lips up to my ear and she whispers:

Nikki: "Thank you for defending me...I'm so glad we met, Brandon."

My eyes widen and I smile softly. I bring up my hand to her face and softly wipe away her tears, causing her to blush, and I chuckle. I take my hand slowly away from her face and whisper:

Brandon: "I'm glad too, Nikki."

I separate, conscious of everyone watching us. I can feel my face heat up a little, but I try to ignore the red that's probably spreading across my face.
We both look down and await Winston's next words.

Principal Winston coughs and seems to have recovered from the little scene, and asks Nikki if she's like to clean up. She just shakes her head and mumbles a "Thank you," to the principal and squeezes my hand. Chloe and Zoey look at her and give her a quick little hug, and Nikki smiles softly.

Winston: "Mr. Roberts, I'm sure your aware of the consequences that can come from harming another student like you did."

I look up and sigh. Might as well go out strong.

Brandon: "I am, sir."

Winston: "Very well. We will, of course, discuss all the punishments after everyone has seen the footage. However, what has happened will indeed give you insight to what is going to happen, I'm sure."

Brandon: "Yes sir."

Winston looks to Mackenzie. She sits up in her chair and lights up.

Mackenzie: "See Principal Winston, I told you he slapped me."

Winston: "Indeed you did Mackenzie. But I'm afraid you've told the story a little differently."

Her face flashes from confident to nervous for a split-second but she quickly recovers.

Mackenzie: "I can't quite remember it well, Principal Winston. Maybe I just used different words."

Winston just raises his eyebrow and looks at Mackenzie questioningly. He just sighs.

Winston: "We'll see about that, Mrs.
Hollister."

She leans back into her chair and Jessica whispers something in her ear that I can't hear. Mackenzie just rolls her eyes and looks at her phone which she's taken out of her pocket. Jessica's phone makes a slight buzz and she looks at it. She reads it and nods.

I look at them questioningly, wondering what their doing. They're being very suspicious. I don't like the looks of this.

Winston sighs and clicks a button on his remote, causing the clip of what happened after that on the tape. We all know what happened then, and I'm sure the rest of the school's seen it too. Unfortunately.....

That was a huge fight and assault I don't want to experience again, but we all listen in and watch the footage anyways. Might as well check if we missed anything.
