"The princess leaves the-well, sheriff's office- to get into the carriage and be taken for a refreshing beverage after a morning of terrible interaction with a thin stick like goblin." I smiled at Daisy's annoyed face.
"Your still doing it Miss." Daisy scodeld while holding my door.
"In this story, I'll let you be the delicate flower, sometimes called a friend. There are no maids, cooks, or drivers in this story."
I slide in next to Maddox. He was clearly taking note of the exchange between Daisy and I.
"Where to Miss?" Harry called.
"Ollie Diner." Then we were off. Named after my big brother Ollie.
"What exactly are we doing Riv?"
"Going for coffee. Don't worry, the princess will return the stable boy back to his cabin soon enough."
"What did you call me?" He quirked an eyebrow. At some point he was going to hear my ridiculous narration, so might as well get it out of the way now.
"She narrates Sir. Been doing it for a while now. It gets more detailed the more drunk Miss is." Daisy cut in.
"The princess doesn't like it when the friend cuts in. The stable boy was asking a question to the princess therefore, she was willing to give a response."
"Mea culpa Miss."
"Does the princess speak Latin?"
"Okay Dox, you can't narrate if you don't commit to the story. Also, if you have a question, just ask. Don't start calling me princess unless you will refer to yourself as stable boy."
"Okay, River, do you speak Latin?"
"Yes. Unlike my siblings that choose either Greek, Italian, Russian, Hungarian, and American sign language."
"Interesting. Did your parents push academic excellence?"
"Of course. My rich parents, the high society rollers, the A list power couple of the town. They only wanted the best from their children. To their luck all followed but one."
"With all due respect River, was that you who didn't follow?"
"Who else would it be? I went to college, but not an Ivy league."
"What was it that kept you away from schools like Yale or Harvard? It certainly wasn't money."
"Incorrect Dox. When I was seventeen, my parents came to me and told me that they planned for my to take over their businesses. This included my father's horse racing and my mother's clothing line. I was actually really excited. I got to work on some rebranding ideas and plans for the future."
"Sounds like a dream, getting to take over two of the most prominent business."
"It should have been."
"What happen River?"
"My brothers expressed interest in father's horse racing. So that was taken away. Then my eldest sister, Nicolette wanted mother's so that was taken away. It should sound like no big deal, but for months I was planning my life around being the CEO of these two companies."
"I'm sorry-"
"Stop." I turned to Harry. He slowed the car and I jumped out before Daisy was able rush to open the door. "Aren't you coming Dox, there is so much more to be said." I called while swinging open the door to Ollie Diner.
He rushed in after me. The waiter saw my car pull up and already had two black coffee's sitting on the table. I picked my usual booth in the corner with the huge window. The sun was refreshing while I sipped my coffee. Maddox sat across from me, nearly out of breathe.
