Five am.

Why you blistering God way up there in the southern sky thought that this would be okay?

Mars is pacing in the room next to me with her feet lightly padding in the most annoying pattern possible across the marble floor.

I know where her head is without even moving. She is regretting her decision, worried that this might ruin her life. She has done something like this every time a major life altering choice came up. Deep down I know she wants to married James in a few hours, but she needs to relax in order to do so. If she is puffy on her wedding day from lack of sleep, I'll never hear the end of it.

I left my room to join hers.

"Mars, open up." I knocked.

"Doll how'd you know I was up?"

"This is so like you. I just had a feeling."

"Well what do you think?"

"That you should go back to sleep and wake up in a few hours to have a mango smoothie while I do your makeup and Daisy paints your nails."

"Okay, you're right." She nodded walking back to her bed. "What about you? Are you going to be okay alone at the wedding?"

"I'm not alone."

"Doll, I can't be there next to you the whole time like at our other friends' weddings."

"I know. I asked Dox to come with me."

"Oh, are you and Dox-"

"Nope. Just friends. He makes good company. I like him."

"You like him." She popped up her eyebrow.

"Yeah. He's a great dude. I think we'll have fun. Anyway get some sleep." I patted her leg from over the comforter leaving a kiss on her forehead.

"Doll, keep it open."

"What? The door."

"Your heart."

"You need a heart to be able to open it." I laughed walking back to the door.

"Doll you don't even realize how great of a gift your heart is. It's a shame."

"See you in a bit Mars." I laughed.

Eight am.

Normal people hours. Not my hours, but the regular folks are usually kicking about the countryside by now. Today I am one of those folks.

I woke up about a half an hour before I expected to see Mars. The laborers were in already in town square getting the stage and flower arch set up for the ceremony and other college friends were making sure the party floor was all in place.

Mars had picked a maroon sleeveless dress with a slit that went up about mid thigh for us bride maids. It was floor length but still light and breathable for the warm weather. The wedding was to be maroon, navy blue, and gold. It was going to be one regal event.

As maid of honor, I took a page from my mother's twisted mind to make sure everything was perfect for Mars' special day. Extra help was hired for the day so Daisy could relax and enjoy being a bridesmaid along with me. She was in a matching dress to me with her hair done in braids with golden string weaved through it.

My hair still needed to be done, it was just sitting in a rat's nest, but first I needed to wake Mars to get her moving into the shower.

"Knock knock, my angelic friend. The princess has come to make sure her angel is properly showered and dress for this magical day." I cooed against the door.
