Chapter 11- Family Dinner
"Austin, do you need me to cut up the chicken for you?" Mum asked, leaning over and grabbing his knife and fork.
"Thanks, mom" he answered, before spooning the peas and mashed potato into his mouth.
"So girls, how has school been lately?" Mom asked. She was wearing a pretty polka dot dress, all alluring colours that spoke her personality.
"Um, good, good" I answered carefully. I didn't even want to think what would happen to Leon if mom found out I had kissed him and the video. He'd messaged me earlier, and apologised. And I was no fool. It wasn't his fault. I'd told him it was ok, and tomorrow we were going on our first date. Not quite boyfriend and girlfriend, but something about him drew me in. Maybe it was those handsome eyes that stretched like a river of stars, or how his hair was ruffled and it seemed cute. Maybe I was smiling a bit too much, because mom said, "Hello, earth to my daughter Charlotte Miller. Something on your mind, Peach?" I shook my head and focused on my food. I had to admit, it was delicious.
"I have something to say. I, uh, have a boyfriend." I started choking as I chugged my water, and it went all over the table. Desperately trying to revive myself, I glared at my sister. Boyfriend? At the exact same time as me?
"Boyfriend? Yall better be doing nothing other than a kiss, Virginia!" My mom said.
"He has a name, you know. He's called Hunter Chen. Max introduced me to him, and he asked me on a date to the cinema. Nothing special" but her eyes said otherwise.
"Ginny has a boyfriend! Grosss! Do you, like, kiss and stuff?" Austin mimicked kissing someone by turning around, and my mom ruffled his hair with a fond look.
"All my kids are growing up. I just can't believe it"
"Well, I have a date tomorrow too" I announced. I'd been contemplating whether or not to tell my mom about Leon, but I figured she would know sooner or later. She always seemed to have a sixth sense.
"Oh, this just keeps getting better! Charlotte Marie, who is this mystery man? You're not even 15 till March, so I will allow casual dating. More like- a boy best friend!" I groaned as she grinned from ear to ear. My family really could be the worst. But I could hardly wait to see Leon tomorrow.
