Chapter 13- Breaking into the Sophomore Sleepover
"Kara, are you on freaking drugs or something? Shut up!" Aria hissed as I climbed through the window.
"Hey, guys. Where's Madi?" I asked. We had arranged to meet in her bedroom, but I'd had quite a challenge trying to climb through the window. I wasn't the most athletic person. I hadn't been inside Madi's room before, though of course Kara and Aria had many times. She had a queen sized bed with a flowery duvet, countless posters of her favourite band Girls 4 U, and a ginormous mirror just standing by the door. I checked my hair on it. I had washed it a couple hours ago, so I wasn't too worried. We agreed to not wear pyjamas, but instead has on jeans and t-shirts. I also had my Abercrombie trainers that cost Mom a fortune. Madi also had a lilac beanie that Kara was now sitting and scrolling through her phone on.
"Madi went to raid the cupboards for more snacks. We can't get them from the gym, or her mom will see us" Aria explained. She seemed on edge, and was nervously fiddling with her red hair, humming a familiar tune under her breath.
"Ok, is there goldfish? I gotta have a supppt of goldfish!" Kara laughed, and I sat down beside her. There was a warmth in her brown hair that brought to her feautures, simple frame for her smile abs eyes that showed more love for us than she would ever admit. I loved the group of crazy, lunatic girls id met. And I couldn't wait to have the time of my life tonight. After Paul had checked I was in bed, I'd put Austin's giant teddy bear Boris under my sheets abs arranged it to look like a sleeping girl. So hopefully he would take the bait. Mom had left with Ginny and the girls about two hours ago, but we all thought jt best to go later so nobody would see us at the entrance. "Charlie! You're here! Great! Kar, I have your goldfish!" And she flung the orange pakcet of crackers at Kara, who giggled and shoved it into her bag.
"We all set? Max took some alcohol but I took it out her bag before she left! They'll only survive on three bottles tonight!" A mischievous gleam flashed in her eyes. Only Madi's dad, Clint, was home, but he was deaf and couldn't hear our contagious laughing and whispers as we snuck out of the window. Ten minutes later we'd reached the school. The lights in the gym were a flashing haze, and there were loads of sophomores swaying to the music or chattering loudly with their friends. It was lit.
"Ok, where should we go first?" Aria asked, as we walked through the dead hallways. The music blared in my ears but also perked me up and made me feel a bit more alive. Just as we were walking past the science classroom, there came drunken laughing and slurred words. Madi grabbed my arm so quick I had to fight the urge to yell in agony.
"Mads, what the hell?"
"Look! Don't say anything! Our sisters are all in there!" It was true. I could see Ginny sitting on a desk, their innocent laughter echoing through the air. Maxine and Abby were also next to each other, but Abby was in her lap and looked deep in conversation. Norah was busy chugging down a bottle of wine. "Shit. I thought they'd be in the gym with the others." Kara bit her lips worriedly.
"Look at them! They're all drunk! I bet they can't even walk in a straight line!" I wondered where my mom and Ellen were. Maybe they didn't even know the girls had gotten inside one of the classrooms. "Let's mess with them!" Madi said, and we went over what to do. I doubted they'd even be able to remeber our names. They must've consumed ten bottles of wine each! "Ooooooo Abigail!" Aria cackled as we walked into the classroom. They stopped talking and glared at us as we walked in.
"Virginia! We at least the ghosts of love, and we are here to spin you your future with a bottle of wine!" I produced a bottle from my bag, and waved it about. Max, Norah, Abby and Ginny were hanging onto our every word.
"A-Aria? Charlie? Kara? Mad-Madi?" Max asked, and Abby lifted her head lazily to look at us.
"What are you doing here?" They didn't sound angry. Just stupid and confused.
"We do not know who you speak of! I am Gargantula, Maker of Love! Sit around us in a circle so we can choose your love fate!" Kara cried out. I thought the drunkest would clear from their gaze, but surprisingly they gathered around us, wrapt with attention. I smiled an smooth smile.
"You look like my sister Kara!" Norah exclaimed, abs Kara motioned her to be quiet. "Abigail, let's see who you love first!" I cried. I spun the bottle round and round, until it reached Ginny. But I knew the game was fake, and Aria quickly changed it to Max. They didn't even notice.
"Ma- Maxine?" Abby asked, and I nodded. Max laughed and said, "Abby! Haha! You girls look like my sister and her friends." She added. After the game, it was also revealed Norah liked Brodie (no surprise there) and Ginny liked Hunter. We made sure the girls drank an extra bottle of wine. Ginny wiped her arm on her sleeve, and said, "Ch-Charlie! Bye Charlie" And we all fell into peals of laughter. It was midnight by now, but no way were we going to sleep! No, the fun had just begun.
