For Anonymous: “Imagine your OTP getting lost at Ikea.”
The Doctor was inside the control room, flying the TARDIS through the time vortex. Rose was also there, holding one for dear life. The doctor had awoken her just minutes before. For her, it was three in the morning. The Doctor woke her from a dream because he simple just had to show her this new planet.
“The planet of Iphitus. The sky is purple, Rose. Purple! And it’s got four moons. Can you believe that?” the Doctor said, running around the console as he pressed buttons and pulled levers.
“Doctor, after battling Satan himself, I really just want a good night’s sleep,” Rose said, still in her pajamas and slippers. She had thrown her hair into a bun in order to look somewhat presentable.
“Come on,” the Doctor said, leaning in close. His face was inches from Rose’s. “There’s fifty constellations right above us. Big, bright stars. Brighter than you’ve ever seen. And in an hour, there’s going to be a big blooming comet, shooting across the sky. Eh? What do you say?”
Rose stared into his big eyes for a few seconds before giving a soft smile. She pushed him playfully and his familiar grin was painted across his face.
“Fine. Give me five minutes to change.”
“No, no changing. It’s the middle of the night. Besides, there’s no time. We’ve got to find a good spot to see the comet,” he said, grabbing his coat. Rose followed him to the door. The Doctor slipped outside and Rose followed.
The building they landed in was dark. The Doctor spun around, taking in their surroundings. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, trying to determine exactly where they were. Rose stepped out and shut the door behind her. She looked around as well. There were various furniture sets all over the place. There were bedroom sets, living room sets, even dining room sets.
“We’ve landed in some sort of…” the Doctor began.
“IKEA,” Rose said, looking at a tag on a nearby couch. “You’ve landed in an IKEA. A quite large one if you ask me,” Rose said.
“No,” the Doctor said. “No, no, no. That can’t be right.”
“Definitely an IKEA,” Rose confirmed.
“Aw! We were supposed to see the comet of Gorn,” he said. The Doctor was about to sulk back to the TARDIS when Rose stopped him.
“Hold on. We can still do something here.”
“At an IKEA?”
“Of course! There’s tons you can do. Plus: after hours. No one’s here to stop us,” Rose said. “Come on, follow me.”
Rose grabbed the Doctor’s hand and pulled him to a couch. They climbed on top together, using each other to maintain balance. Rose pointed across the store.
“Okay, you see that bed all the way over there?”
“Hold on. Yeah, I see it.”
“We have to get all the way over there, but you can’t touch the floor,” Rose said. The Doctor looked at her and smiled.
“Are you asking me to play ‘don’t touch the lava,’?” the Doctor asked. Rose didn’t even have time to answer. “Beat you there!”
