This AU is based on a post by badwolfrun.tumblr.com (http://badwolfrun.tumblr.com/post/74681866994/tenrose-au-midnight-doctor-its-its-me). The picture is also theirs.

A couple lines in this are not originally mine. You'll recognize them when you see them but they're taken from the actual episodes to sort of give you an idea of when this is taking place. Basically, this AU ties together Midnight and Journey's End (except the Doctor isn't on Earth when Rose fills him in).

"I've locked in on his position. It's time to run the operation. Have you all got your computers prepped?" Rose said, calibrating her transport watch. She turned around to look at her nodding coworkers. They all sat at computers and stared at her, waiting for instructions. Finally, one woman, a newbie to the cooperation, said what they were all thinking.

"Is this safe, miss?" she asked. Rose sighed.

"We'll find out, then, I suppose. Can't keep relying on sending images if it's not working. And it worked a few weeks ago," Rose said, thinking of the Adipose mission.

"That was a short mission. We had you on a time schedule. We don't know how long you'll be over there and if we can pull you back," a man standing in the back pointed out.

"It doesn't matter. If I find the Doctor, he'll help. I won't need to be pulled back," Rose determined. Everyone nodded.

"This Doctor, he'll know what to do? About the darkness?" asked a younger kid. He was a student at the local university, interning at Torchwood.

"If anyone can do something about it, it's him."

"Throw him out," Biff said, looking at the Doctor.

"Get him out of my head," Val yelled in fear of the man.

"Yeah, we should throw him out," Biff repeated.
"Don't just talk about it, just. You're useless. Do something," Val told him.
"I will. You watch me. I'm going to throw him out," Biff said, about to walk over to the Doctor. Skye, or rather the thing inside of her, grinned in triumph.

As Biff was taking his first step, there was a flash in front of him. Skye turned around just in time to see what everyone else saw and the room was silent. There was no arguing and yelling or repeating and panicking. They were all focused on the girl who was suddenly standing in front of them in the middle of the bus. She had nothing with her but a watch she was looking down at for the moment. Her hair was blonde, cut just above her shoulders. Dressed in a purple leather jacket and black pants she looked up.

Rose saw the Doctor sitting on the floor in a rather awkward position. She rushed over to him and tried pulling at his shoulder to get his attention, but he didn't budge. She stared at him for a moment, confused. He wasn't just frozen. Something was absolutely wrong here. Ten minutes ago, Rose had seen him up and talking to the others on board just before she lost connection. What happened in ten minutes? He was sweating and his eyes were wide with absolute terror. She hadn't seen that kind of fear since the lever slipped and he watched as she tried pulling it back.

Rose stood up and looked at the group of tourists staring at her. The one older woman, a brunette with reddish tints in her hair, looked like the most frightened of them all as she clung to her husband. She had her son's arm gripped so tightly in her other hand that Rose thought she might bruise him. The only one that didn't seem frightened was the blonde woman. She stared back, obviously a little shocked, but with cold eyes that looked right through her. There was a younger woman with glasses who seemed absolutely afraid, but not of Rose particularly. The older man standing next to her, also wearing glasses, was shaken up a bit and was slack jawed.

"What happened?" Rose asked. She waited for an answer, but none seemed to be giving one up. "Alright, I'll as again. What the hell happened here? He was fine a few minutes ago, now what happened?"
