As we ran through the undergrowth, Dimitri being my full mate hit me full on. I stopped dead and looked back. I'd outrun the rest of them. I sat down and waited for the three to catch up.
I had time to think to myself about the whole hell hound thing. With their new power to make themselves look like our own, anyone could be one of them.
I looked in front of me. The house was only a few feet away. I perked my ears as I heard a twig snap. I shot my glare to where I heard the sound and seen Chance emerge.
"Chance?" I asked. "What are you doing here?"
Following Chance was Nia, Nico, and Ignasio. Nia shook herself clean of the dust they picked up. Her eyes set on me. "Alima!" She bounded up to me. "How was the meeting? Did you and Dimitri become mates?"
I laughed. "Duh." I shifted. "But really, what were you guys doing?"
Ignasio shifted and the rest followed soon after. "Border patrol. Nia said she was out and seen an unknown wolf while you were we gone. We decided to check it out."
"And?" I asked.
"It was one of the Yorkshire wolves. She was a new member. One of their own bit her a few days ago. She just turned a few hours ago, so we returned her to her new pack."
"Oh." I looked over and seen Arabella emerge followed by Dimitri then Archer.
Ignasio growled. "Who's she?"
Arabella shifted. "One of the Alpha's guards. We were assigned your pack, now if you wouldn't mind to stop growling at me that would be much appreciated." She crossed her arms.
Ignasio mumbled under his breath. Nico elbowed him.
"Show a little respect would you?" He snarled.
Arabella giggled. "It's fine Nico. I get this a lot from other guards." Archer shifted and Dimitri padded up to me.
He licked my hand and whimpered slightly. I bent down and ruffled his fur, running it through my fingers as I did so. He groaned. I couldn't help but laugh under my breath.
Nia walked up and kneeled next to me. "So, erm...how was it?"
I stopped petting Dimitri to turn to Nia. "How was what?"
Nia's face hardened. "The mate thing."
"Oh that." I said. "It was fine."
"Just fine?" Nia asked. "There wasn't anything else?"
Dimitri shifted. "There was drama." I shot him a glare. I knew the Alphas wouldn't like us sharing what happened between Elen and Silas.
"Dimitri," I growled, "not the time, love."
Dimitri nodded. "We should check on Clem. Last I heard Tyree said she made a full recovery."
Ignasio looked downward. "I'll kill those hell hounds."
Nico rolled his eyes. "We all want to, moron."
I growled. "Will you two cut it out?"
Arabella walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Come on, Alima. We must return to the pack." She looked back at Archer worriedly. "We need to talk about something."
Chance nodded. "Yes, we should." Chance looked back at the others. "Let's go. We'll leave Alima and Arabella be."
Ignasio rushed off to the house. Nico sighed and shook his head slowly, pitying his brother.
