31. Soulmates

I got up and made my way to the door to leave. Shoto followed me and grabbed my wrist. "Don't go. I'll talk to my-" he started but I cut him off. "No please do not interfere. You need to rest. I don't want to cause you any stress. I will make up to your dad I promise you" I said.

I smiled and grabbed his hand. "After all, I'd do anything for you" I shyly said. He looking into my eyes and then kissed my forehead. "Drive home safely ok?" he said.

I nodded before leaving.

2 weeks later

It was finally summer break. I have been trying to make up to Shoto's dad for the past 2 weeks now. Nothing was good enough. I bought flowers, chocolates, cleaned their front porch, baked them a cake. Endeavor just wasn't satisfied with anything that I did for him and his family.

Today I made my way to their house again to drop off some homemade cookies. I wasn't allowed to come inside.

I rang the bell and waited. Fuyumi opened the door. "Hi!" she smiled at me. "Hi" I said back and handed her the basket of cookies. "I baked them this morning. They're still fresh and they taste delicious" I said and smiled. "You can come in-" she started but got cut off. "Absolutely not" we heard. Endeavor appeared behind her. He didn't look happy. But then again, when did he?

"What did you get us this time?" he asked. "I.. um.. freshly baked cookies" I nervously said. "Are you trying to bribe us?" he asked. I let out a sigh. Of course it wasn't good enough. Nothing ever was. I don't understand how Shoto can live with this man.

He grabbed the basket of cookies. I was about to leave but then he spoke. "Shoto hasn't been feeling well recently" he said. I turned around to face him again. "Would you mind... checking on him?" he asked. I nodded and slowly made my way inside

I walked up the stairs and knocked on his bedroom door. "No" I heard him mutter. "It's me" I said. It got quiet and he immediately opened the door. "Y/n?" he asked. "How did you get inside?" he asked. "Your dad let me in. You aren't feeling well?" I asked. "Ah no it's nothing" he quickly said. I frowned at him.

"Come sit down" I said and sat down on his bed. He sat next to me. I felt his forehead. He was burning hot. "Shoto you seem to have a fever. You're burning up" I said and pushed him to lay down on the bed. He looked at me surprised. "You need to rest" I said and tucked him in. "But I wanted to spend time with you" he said disappointed.

"There's plenty of time to do that. As long as you stay healthy" I said. "I'll get you some soup wait" I said. I made my way to their kitchen and started making him some soup. "And what are we doing here? You're cooking yourself a meal?" Endeavor asked. I rolled my eyes. "It's for Shoto, he seems to have a fever" I spoke. "A fever?" he asked. I nodded.

"I'll finish making this and bring it to his room. I'll go home after that don't worry" I said as I was stirring the soup. He got quiet and walked out of the kitchen.

I finished the soup and poured it into a bowl. I also got him a bottle of water and made him some tea. I put everything on a tray and carried it to his room.

I opened the door and put down the tray. I gave him the soup and stayed with him for a while until he finished it.

"Why can't you stay with me?" he pouted. "Because firstly, you'd make me sick" I said and giggled. "Secondly, your dad will kick me out" I added. He let out a sigh. "I wish that he could see how good you are to me and how happy you make me" he said. I held his hand. "I wish that too" I said and gently smiled at him. "Please rest well" I said. I said goodbye and turned off his lights before walking out and closing the door.

"That boy really likes you doesn't he" I heard behind me. I turned around to see Endeavor. "I guess so" I said. "I see how much effort and care you put into him. He really needs someone to look after him and comfort him" he said. I nodded. "Shoto is a really good person" I said and looked at Endeavor. "He works very hard for everything, isn't afraid to face anything, and cares so much about the people around him" I added. "I just want to see him happy. It's the least he deserves" I said.

Endeavor got quiet. "Looks like you also like that boy  a lot" he said and let out a sigh. "You're allowed to visit him as much as you like" he then said. I looked at him in surprise. "You make him happy" he spoke. "And the way that you genuinely care for him means a lot to us as a family. Shoto hasn't been this happy in very long" he added. I smiled to myself. "I'm glad that I can be there for him" I said.

It's been a few a days since that day at Shoto's house. I've been visiting him regularly and we have been spending time together nonstop.

"The sunset is so beautiful" Shoto spoke as we were laying in the grass, admiring the sunset.

"It's so calming to look at" I replied back. He held my hand. "That's how I feel about you" he said. I turned to him. Our eyes made contact. He smiled. I couldn't help but smile back. "I can't wait to make you mine forever one day" he said. I looked at him surprised. "You're thinking about marrying me?" I asked.

He brought his hand up to my face and gently caressed my cheek. "Of course" he said and gazed into my eyes. I pulled him by his shirt and pressed my lips onto his, taking him by surprise.

I pulled back and we looked at each other.

"I love you" we both said at the same time.
