Chapter Forty Three

* Few days later*

The security is tight after the break in. Abel is back at the studio, giving finishing touches to all the songs. He plans to have a listening party for all the friends but after the recent incident La Mar and others feel its not safe. What if somebody sneak in there?

The week of the wedding was wild, the car chase then the break in have left me worried too. As if I don't have much on my plate, there is the photo. Who is that girl and what connection does she have with me.

I'm lazying around at Abel's house wearing just his tee and boxers. I walk down the stairs to look for something to eat when I see a room on far left. I have never seen the inside of it and have already seen the whole house including his ice room where is keeps all jewels.

Martha isn't home, so I make my way towards the room feeling sneaky. The door opens on first try surprising me as I thought it would be locked. I walk in and turn on the lights. It's a small room with a desk and chair in one corner and lots of junk in the other. I walk towards the desk, running my hand on the smooth wood of it.

Sitting myself on the chair I reach for a drawer in the desk pulling it to open. I know I should stop and get out of here. Abel didn't showed me this room for some reason and it's not like I am his wife that I need to know everything he does. But curiosity get the best of me. The draw opens with creak making me cringe.

It have lots of files, all organised neatly. I close it and open another one. This has paper clips and stapler pins and other stationery. Feeling guilty for checking his drawers I choose to not explore any further and get up.

I walk to the junks, there are sofa chairs that are perfectly fine but old. There is metal rack which hold lots of boxes labelled like 'bedroom cleaning', 'kitchen stuff' etc. One box catch my eye. Its sitting on the top with no label on it. Standing on my tip toes, I reach for the box and bring it down. I take it back to the desk and clear the dust off it.

I lift off the lid. Inside there is a small antique metal box meant to hold jewellery. I pull it out and set it on the desk. There are some Polaroids facing downwards. Maybe they are photos of Abel when he was a baby. I have seen some on his social media.

Heart pounding with the fear of being caught, I reach for them and take them out. The first photo is blurry and dark, only thing visible is someone's hand on their face. I put it down and look at another one. This one is of Abel when he was young, taken by someone who is on top of him. The third photo drops my heart.

It is a photo of a young girl, wearing white tank top and shorts. Her blonde hair flying behind her as she laughs. The same photo that the Unknown Number texted me that night. Her face is not clearly visible as she is looking away from the camera. I quickly look through other photos and find her.

This one is of her and Abel. She is straddling his lap as she looks back towards the camera and they both smile. There is another one, its a closeup of her face. She is looking directly at the camera and posing a sultry look. I have to admit, she is very beautiful. Blue eyes that can captivate anyone and clear skin without a single blemish or marks.

Breaking free of my thoughts, I quickly click pictures of them in my phone and put them back in. I open the antique box. There are some hair clips, a ring, pair of earrings and some notes. I pick one of the note read it, 'I am meeting him tonight. Lie to mother for me.' Another have something written in foreign language.

One of them mentions something about 'happy house' but as the note was maybe burned the rest is unclear. I take pictures of them as well and put everything back in the box and the box on the shelf. I turn off the room's light and close the door behind me.

My mind is racing with a million questions and the only one that can answer them all is Abel.
