Try Me (Drunk In Love #1)

Chapter Thirty

My doctor, Caleb, tells me that I hit my head pretty bad which gave me a very painful wound on the side of my head and leading to a two day coma. Luckily I didn't had any fracture in me, just my lungs took most of the impact from fall that's why I can't breathe properly. There is just one wound on my hand, a second degree burn from fire. All over, I can leave hospital in three or four days.

As only family is allowed to visit me, Abel can't see me. I am relived because I don't want him to see me like this. Even though I don't have many bodily injuries, there are several bruises on my face. And also, I had a pee bag attached to me and I don't think there is anything more embarrassing than that.

All the medicines inside of me is making me sleep a lot, I drifted off as soon as doctor left. When I woke up my nurse informed me that they are going to shift me from ICU.

The drugs they gave keep me drowsy. When I last woke up, I was not in ICU and Lexi informed me that she is going to get some rest. As soon as she left, I slept again, unable to keep my, eyes open.

A loud thud wakes me up. When I open my eyes the room is dark. Maybe some nurse had switched off the lighting. I try to lift my head but my mind is too fuzzy. I see a shadow fall on me then a person come into my view.

He has a bouquet of flowers and he place them on a table beside my bed. I can't see his face at all, the only thing I know he is wearing a hoodie. He stands looking at them for a second, them turns to leave. The last thing I see before sleep takeover me is glowing XO.

I feel the heat of sun on my face. Opening my eyes, I see sunlight peeking in through the blinders. A nurse lift my bed slightly. I turn my head towards her and she hands me some pills and a cup of water. I gulp them down and she sets up breakfast in front of me.

Lexi burst into the room, holding a big stack of magazine. She put them on the bed and proceeds to tie my hair at back.

"Did you get good sleep?" She asks while braiding my hair.

I mumble yes through a mouth full.

"So beautiful flowers. Who else knows you love sunflower?" I turn my head sideways at her comment and see a bouquet of sunflowers resting on the table. There is a card attached to it which Lexi opens and read.

"Get well soon baby girl. xo'
Baby girl?" She inquires and images from last night apper.

"They are from Abel." I say with certainty.

"Did he come after I left? I thought only family is allowed to see you." Lexi questions hospital's rules.

"No. I mean yeah, he came but he never met me.." I explain what happened last night.

"He thought I was sleeping but I was awake. Drowsy from drugs but awake. I saw him keep those and then left."

"How do you know if that was him?" She asks.

"When he turned, I saw the back of his hoodie. It had XO printed on it with which glowed in moonlight. I know what clothes he own, obviously." I say. At that time Tabitha enters greeting us with coffee from my favourite café.

When I stretch my hand to take mine, she shakes her head no.
"Doctor said no coffee for you for atleast a month."

"What, why?!" I whine at her. She sticks her tongue out and take a sip of her coffee, pissing me off even more.

"Nice." She comments when she sees the bouquet.

She turns towards me with mischief in her eyes, as if she is hiding a very juicy secret.

"What?" I furrow my brows at her.

She smiles very big then sit down on the stool beside the bed. After taking another sip of coffee she starts speaking.

"I met Abel last night. He wants to meet you."

Mention of Abel makes me smile like an idiot which arise hooting from Lexi and Tabi both. I motion for them to quiet down and they giggle more than me.

"He knows it's family only. He won't be allowed inside." I state the obvious.

"I know. But he will be coming at four so you have to look, a little less zombie." She looks me up and down and scrunch up her face.

"I don't think you are listening Tabitha. Family only." I say her again, trying to mask how offended I am at her zombie comment.

"And I said I know. I have a way of sneaking him in but it will require for us to wait until nurses shift changes. The ones who come in morning gets off at four and those who work night come in at four fifteen. So we have fifteen minutes until someone come to check on you." I gape at her risky idea. If they get caught, she will not be able to see me too.

"You are crazy! Lexi tell her she crazy." I look over at Lexi who is smirking. I know that look, she is down for Tabitha's plan. Lexi is just as crazy as Tabi.

"Oh my god you, both are out of your minds! If you get caught, they won't let even you visit me." I point my finger at her.

She shrugs and says she has everything under control. Then she lifts her bag and gives me a peek inside.

"What is all this?" I look at all the makeup inside.

"For you. I mean you cannot look like, this, and meet him. He would leave your ass in a minute." She motions at my face.

I roll my eyes at her and again tell her how crazy her idea is.

She ignores the comment and go on to clean my face with a wet wipe.
