Chapter 39 - life moved on

Hayden's POV

" I missed you too " she said to me
Is what I hoped would happen but it was all an imagination I couldn't even ring the door bell that day....which brings me back to reality

Valentine's day

Me and Alex still haven't gotten back together and love is filling the air at school and I most definitely plan on skipping the Valentine's Day dance but my friends keep encouraging me to go but I honestly can't.

Despite being close to Alex we still don't talk due to the fact we have the same group of friends we always end up colliding but we never speak especially today when we met at the hallway the dance committee convinced the school to get a match maker machine for the school you fill in your likes and it shows you who your most compatible with using the schools information on various students.

I obviously didn't do it I know I'd end up having too but the whole gang definitely did. Well most of them did.

Justin " I can't believe the school actually got this "

He said while leaning on his locker

Kailey " I know it's really dumb plus my date is a 5 hour plane trip away"

Alexa " I assume you won't go then "

I hear her voice still as vibrant as before.

Kailey " I will plus Nicole is going too "

Alexa " I'll just skip it plus I got paired with a knuckle head "

Hayden " whose that "

I slip those words before I could hold them back she looks at me a bit surprised but quickly regains herself

Alexa " Justin Foley "

Hayden " oh you should go with him then "

I soon realize everyone is looking at me.

Justin " No way bro "

Hayden " it'll be fun at least let someone else make her happy "

I realize how sad I sound but I didn't care

Justin " what do you say then Alex "

Alexa " I don't think I even want to go "

She says directly looking at me and it gets to me i open my mouth to speak but I stop myself .

Hayden " I can't do this "

I say and walk away but Justin shortly follows behind me.

Justin " you alright bro "

Hayden " I miss her a lot I need her back "

Justin " then get her back "

Hayden " I can't she hates me "

Justin " no she doesn't just talk to her alright "

I simply nodded after that i went back to my locker to pick a few books but instead I'm met with a surprise it was Alex leaning her head on my locker with her curls hiding a part of her face I just stared for a while before I attempted to walk up to her I was a bit scared so I only said her name

" Alex "

" Alex "

" Alex it's me "

She immediately rose and cleared her face a bit

Alexa " oh sorry lost in thought "

Hayden " it's alright "

Alexa " I'll see you later then "

Hayden " bye Alex "

I smiled as I watched her walk away I'm certainly never getting her back.

Alexa's POV

Hayden finally spoke to me today after weeks of ignoring each other and I was actually happy al though I still don't understand the basis of our break up but I still know we like each other I just don't know how to go about it.

I found myself lost in thought before his words brought me back to reality.

I cut the conversation short and left as soon as possible despite the urge to form small talk .

I walk back to class and successfully end the school day. Even though most people were just making chatter about the dance and sadly I have to go because all three of my besties are going and I later found out Hayden got paired up with Casey so I'll have to keep an eye out Just in case even though I know he wouldn't do anything.

I head out not as fast as I want to before I'm interrupted by kailey

Kailey " Your coming right "

Alex " I wouldn't miss it "

Kailey " maybe you can re-write your love story with Hayden "

Alex " I most certainly doubt it "

I smile as I glance at the halls finding him smiling and conversing with Justin his hair is a perfect mess underneath his red face cap faced backwards. He catches me staring but I divert it by waving at Justin and his expression hardens but I let it be.

A few hours later I was ready for the Valentine's Day dance . I wore a simple white fitted dress I didn't feel like dressing at all.

Nicole and Kailey looked stunning in pink and red. We arrive at the dance and it was absolutely gorgeous I loved the scenery.

Spencer joined us shortly and took Nicole away so it was just me and Kailey before we were shortly joined by Justin and Hayden.

Justin " valentines is so overrated who wants to dance "

Kailey " I will "

Kailey says a bit too hurriedly leaving me and Hayden by the snack bar and punch bowl as if on cue the DJ plays level of concern by 21 pilots one of our favorite songs.

Hayden " Hey "

Alexa " hey "

Hayden " I missed you "

Alexa " I missed you too "

Hayden " wait what are we doing "

Alexa " I don't really know "

Hayden " can I be honest with you "

Alexa " Yes please "

Hayden " I fucking miss you and I need you back please come back "

Alexa " I...uhmmm...wait "

Hayden " I know I don't make sense because I broke up with you but I was wrong "

Alexa " But..hayd..."

Hayden " I know I know I fucked up I should've known you'd never cheat on me "

Alexa " hold on I..."

Hayden " yes I should've trusted you and if you did like Justin I should've spoken to you and be better for you but now you hate me I'm sorry Alex "

Alexa " Hayden I never stopped loving you "

Wait did I just say that he seemed surprised but regained himself soon enough to reply me

Hayden " I never stopped loving you too "

Did we just unknowingly say we love each other but my thoughts were interrupted with a kiss on my lips yap we're finally back......
