chapter 43 - Quick moves

Hayden's POV

I shake my head to blink the imagination off my head. I'm still holding my phone thinking of dialing Justin's number but I decided not to I think it's just a waste of time.

I take off my earpods and go to sleep immediately. I wake up the next morning feeling a bit drowsy so I make myself a chocolate smoothie immediately.

I take a bath and get dressed in a red shirt and a black Jean before adding a chain and my wristwatch.

I go downstairs to greet my mom and pick up my lunch.

" You had quite a night last night!," My mom said as she handed me the brown paper bag

" yeah it was really fun," I reply collecting my lunch.

" Don't you think it'd be nice to introduce me to your girlfriend honey," my mom said are we there yet?

" I don't know mom we're not their yet!,"

I say while'st putting my lunch In my bag. I  wave her bye and head to school.

First three periods go by faster than I'd like them to so I actually enjoyed lunch this time.

"Hey man what's up" Justin inquired sitting beside me.

"my mom wants me to invite Alex to dinner but I feel we're not their yet"I say confidently but the looks am getting don't look friendly.

" Your really dumb wasn't she your best friend before?."Spencer said throwing a Fry in his mouth

" Besides she's met my dad already!." Justin says, How's that my business. I take a sip out of my drink before saying.

" I don't know... so I should invite her?." I questioned still not sure.

"that's on you bro but it'd be dumb not to." Zach Said through a mouthful of food.

I rethink it and I decide to invite her after all I'm sure it'll go well. I walk up to her table where she's sitting with her friends I see them consoling Nicole I'm not sure why but I decide to chime in.

"Are you okay Nicole?," I questioned .

Just like wind Spencer appears from no where .

"What's wrong with her?," Spencer asked concern all over his face.

He sits next to her wrapping his arms around she lands on his chest. I wonder what the problem might be. I call Alex to one side and plant a kiss on her lips before speaking up.

" I want to ask you something?," I say tugging my hands in my pocket

"sure what's up?," She said.

" how would you like to have dinner with me and family Tonight?," I asked and her eyes lit up.

"oh my God I'd love to hon," she says a huge grin on her face.

She says and quickly pulls me into a hug I smile in her hair savouring every moment close to her.

"I'll see you by 6 tonight?,"I say

"see you then,"she said

I place one more lingering kiss on her lips before walking away with a smile on my face. Spencer is still consoling Nicole and I wonder what the problem might be.

School is over and I've never been happier basketball practice was amazing but I'll have to hit the gym to prepare for my next game.

I have Justin drop me off at home making the mental note to take the Goddamn car next time.

I walk in and I can't find my Dad I draw the conclusion that he must be at work . My mom is by the kitchen counter taking a cup of coffee. I tell her Alex is coming over today she simple nods and continues to sip her coffee I wonder what's wrong with her but I simply go off to my room,hearing my sisters voices coming through the door I assume their back from school and I can hear my mom sigh,a deep and exhausted one. What is going on around here .

Alexa's POV

So I was invited to have dinner at my boyfriend's house today I'm literally freaking out and I don't  even know where to start from I'd call Kailey but she's with Nicole and Spencer, I tried my sister but she's at her part-time job working so I tried the last dying resort I called Casey.

And to my greatest surprise she knew everything about this she told me what to say and even recommended a dress for me.

I cherished our Time together and I thought back to the old times where we were happy and best friends.

" Thanks for coming Casey!," I say with a light smile

"Sure thing Alex it's my pleasure!."  She replies returning my smile.

Our conversation was interrupted with her phone ringing she shows it to me blushing
It was Justin with two hearts at the front I laugh at the cuteness of their blooming relationship she puts the phone on speaker and winks at me.

On the phone:

"Hey honey what's up" she said joy erruppting from her voice.

" Hey case can we talk," can we talk he said his voice weak.

I smile at the nickname.

"sure I'm at Alexa's house though!,"she replied.

"Oh well I hope you guys have fun talk to you later sweetheart," he said his tone hesitant.

And he immediately hangs up.

"You two are cute!," I say poking her.

" we get by!." She says barely hiding her blush.

At 5:30 sharp I'm all dressed up and ready wearing a long sleeve knee level gown with simple palms and my hair in a it's natural curls Casey helped me make an apple pie she says it's a great omen for dinners with your boyfriend's parents.

By 5:50 Hayden shows up at My door with a sweatshirt and jogger pants he smiles at my dress and we drive to his house.

He introduces me to his parents his mom a tall brown lady with dark brown eyes and lucious long black hair,his dad a strong slightly built man with dark Thin hair and deep brown eyes.

"This is my girlfriend" he says and his mother insits I call her Candice.
I greet his mom and dad with my most welcoming smile. I wave at his sisters three brown girls with heavy curls and hand his mom the apple pie she smiles and directs me to the table. Here it goes.

" So tell me About your family Alex!," His mom said

" well my mom's an accountant and my dad is a retired military officer my older brother is currently at college while my elder sister is a fashion designer,"I said all smiles but not too smily though.

"what do you hope to be?,"she asked I haven't really thought about that

"I'm not too sure yet!."I replied.

The rest of the dinner goes well but I notice Hayden's father is a very quiet man he hasn't said a word throughout.

Hayden's mom serves us each a piece of the apple pie. It all goes well until Hayden's dad starts coughing.

" is their nutmeg in this ?." She questioned concern written all over her face.

I couldn't even answer as his coughing gets louder Candice gets his EpiPen from a nearby drawer .

He calms down a bit and Hayden's sisters surround him I make an attempt to talk to Hayden put he barely says a word rather he puts up his hand and briefly says.

"You should leave now!."Hayden spat I swallow the huge lump in my throat building a barrier to the river of tears that wanted to flood my eyes,I quickly take my purse and briefly said sorry to Candice and his sisters before walking out teary.
