VALENTINA LOOKED LIKE ONE OF THOSE GIRLS PEOPLE WRITE SONGS ABOUT, BUT THAT'S ALL SHE EVER WAS — a song. Most guys played her once, then changed the playlist. But not Dominic; he stopped on her song, listening on replay a few times before he got addicted, constantly playing it. From the moment Valentina was born, the older man knew she was going to be popular in the public eye. When he was fifteen, and first held the new born in his arms, he made a vow to himself, to always protect her and cherish her.
Never did he thought he'd fall for her.
Dominic was forced into the lifestyle of business and meetings, always having to be on top of his game and never caught slacking behind. That's an advantage to the rival companies.
There was never time for love, or even affairs — you'd be lucky to find time to even meet a girl to have a 'quick fuck' with, back at your penthouse. Dominic had always found this easier; no lady had caught his eye until he was twenty-nine.
Nearly eighteen years old, Valentina had came in with her father one morning, wearing heels with only a short platform and a tight fitting dress, paired with a white blazer. He could remember strictly how nervous she was, nothing how she was like now.
He sat up straight, greeting his boss before welcoming the shaking seventeen year old. He could tell her nerves cleared up slightly at seeing his familiar face when smiled as he pulled her in for a hug.
Whilst hugging her, his hand moved down to cover her ass, glaring at the men who were watching her with lustful eyes. He didn't want anyone seeing her. He had always been protective off her, but never possessive. It was odd and new to him. But it also felt right.
After a couple months of Valentina coming and going to the office, he knew that his attraction was more than just wanting to get off — he wanted her. He wanted her attention, her feelings, her love. But she was off limits, always had been with Saint Nicholas being her father.
It was wrong, he shouldn't be getting irritated; he knew it was unacceptable adoring an nineteen year old who was his best friends daughter. It was all finalised in his head.
Dominic Castor was in love with Valentina De La Cruz.
Dominic smacked his hand on the desk he was sat at, attracting the attention from his co-workers who gave him weird looks. He checked his phone for the fifth time in ten minutes, seeing if Valentina had yet to reply to his messages.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, he unlocked his phone, calling the girl he simply couldn't get off his mind. It rang a few times before he instantly calmed at hearing Valentina's voice.
"Dominic, babe?" Valentina's voice spoke, "You ok?" she added on.
Not actually having a plan as to why he had called her, he just told her the truth. "Miss you and your voice," he admitted, his voice soft and calm.
"I miss you too, is work stressing you out?" Valentina smoothed into the phone, happy that Dominic could not see her wide cheesy smile.
"Yes, darling," he lied. "But your voice calms me, so just talk for a little. Please," Dominic added in a whisper, leaning back on his desk chair to close his eyes.
Valentina's soft voice floated through the phone for a while, her words about nothing but everything at the same time. Dominic relished the soft and mellow tones of her voice, feeling the familiar feeling he'd identified earlier wash over him.
There was a second of panic that Dominic felt when the conversation drifted to an end, but he shook his head, and allowed his love to bid her goodbye.
"I'll see you later then?" She asked. "Don't overwork yourself, alright? I'll try to see you tonight, maybe we can try what you suggested in the shower."
Dominic laughed at her scolding. "Of course. I lo–" He cleared his throat, eyes widening at the words that almost slipped out. "I meant, I'll see you later."
"Bye!"
Dominic shut his eyes tightly after the distinct click came through, only one word running circles around in his mind.
